Not sure I asked that question too and six states didn't know. They are on the look out for me. I think a scout is a bit wider. I need to find the dimensions again so that I can see what are some other options. Six States did mention getting one made or cutting a longer one and re-splining it. Dutchman seems to have that down. Their office was closed and couldn't leave a message. Have you used them JamesK?
yes, I have. very happy with the work they did.

There is someone a little more local that can spline shafts;)
sorry Mike, I didn't realize you did that. Try Mike first Jdub.

I'm ignorant on the full floater thing. What is it and why is it used?

full floater conversion for the rear d44 makes it like your front, you install spindles on the ends of your axle housing, so that the wieght of your rig rides on bearing that ride on the spindles and your axle shafts run throught the spindles into either a hub or driveflange, you have to have custom cut shafts for the full float assembly also, this was suggested because if you have to have custom shafts anyway might as well have the benefit of a fullfloat. the axles last longer because they only have forward torque on them, and not combined torque and wieght resistance. It is claimed that your shafts in this arrangment are 35% less likely to break that semi-float axles. most dana 60's and 14 bolts are stock fullfloaters.

I'm pretty sure your WMS to WMS is 55". An Explorer 8.8 axle is 58.5", and an F-150/Ranger 8.8 (WJ ZUK has one for $75, but it has bad gears/bearings-which I have abundance of) is narrower than that - I think it might be 55".

How do you switch a D44 over to full float without changing the bearing caps, etc? Warn's full float kits have been discontinued.

Same way we did it before Warn built a kit:D
Ussually using 44 front spindles and hub/rotors. A little machine work and you end up with the same spindle/hub/rotor etc on all 4 corners.

No, pics....been a few years since I did one that way....Been too easy to just use Warn.

Maybe you can Talk Bryson into pulling a wheel off DJs old cruiser and taking a pic;)

Asia? His dad sold that Cruiser as far as I know....that and he'd added a 60 up front and a 14 bolt in the rear ;)

Is that for one shaft or for two? I have a 86 CJ-7 with the stock D44 rear and I have been looking for replacement shafts just incase :)

No offense, but I think for that price you could get a set of D44 axles that are too long and take them down to Mike to have cut/resplined. ...Or at least close to it and you would support the local guy instead.

No offense taken. That was my intent. But finding one with the right taper was going to be a hassle. Yeah, you can cut one but where it's cut might effect the way it installs, if at all. I would have had to do a lot of scrounging. A couple more days of calling(getting sick of it).Drive all over the valley. Plus The people I talked to were willing to help but not sure if it would work. I saved some added hassle and had someone do it that has done this exact shaft before. Sorry if I seemed shallow.:( Just wanted it done this winter:)
