My truck has been running rough... I was working on it today, revved the motor, and boom! Potato gun like noise followed by thin black liquid draining out...Any ideas?Sorry for the pic size posted from my phone.

Yup, that's the catalyst from your catalytic converter. It was plugging up your exhaust before it made its escape, and that's why it had no power. You probably had a rattle that has now disappeared.

A plugged up catalytic converter killed my sister's Mazda (ford) V6 two weeks after she bought it.

The liquid was water (from combustion), it was black from all the carbon soot and cat dust.
New universal cats are cheap on ebay, get your welder ready. :)

Today I pulled my exhaust off. I figured the easiest thing to do was cut the cat out. When I did that I saw the cat was completely clogged... So I went and bought a piece of exhaust to replace where the cat was for now. I will post some pics later.

Remember how I told you your cat was making noise and it might plug it up? That's why I won't run a cat on my rigs. Can leave you stranded at the worst time..

When we were driving home last week your exhaust sounded plugged but I figured it was just the tiny little tail pipe I could see. If your rig sounds like a vacuum when you are on the gas you have some back pressure.. Should run better now
