What did you build your 4x4 for?

What type of 'wheelin' did you build you vehicle for?

I built mine mainly for everyday the 4-5+ trail's although 37's and stock birf's are really pushing it now not to mention 4:10's with the 37's down the highway suck.

stock birfs and 37's I would like to see that on 5+ trails.

Ok,mabe 4+ trail's are more like it,does pritchett count as a 5,that's the one trail I save until the last ride before heading back home, pritchett is a pretty cool ride.
I've been almost everywhere in moab except area BFE and helldorado and I dont like bypasses.I just use the Light pedal and the right line's and take my time unless I feel like some extra action then I let'r have it.I carry at all time's inner and outer shaft's with birf's and one spare birf.I check them constantly for crack's and such and change if need be,I'm pretty fast I must say:rofl: .
Moab's all I've done for hardcore wheelin though,I have'nt found area's up here yet and like I said I really only wheel when I go to moab once a year and I go prepared and I wonder consantly when the next will pop.Everything up here is weak usually snow and mud run's steep climb's etc:p
I'm taking the wife out nextweekend so she can get used to the gearing and the clutch cause she think's she's driving this year when we go down this outta be interesting:ugh: .

Mine is built to handle anything up to 4+ and possibly more than that, but what the poll is lacking is what we actually do with our rigs. Mine is mostly a get me away from everyone else rig, sometimes that's just a gravel road, sometimes it's more akin to Pritchett Canyon, most times it's something in between.

That is the question I was going to ask. What do you use yours for not what you want it for. Mine is also a daily driver. I would have to say that my wife wants it built for the 5+ but she does not have to drive down 80 from tooele so I am going to go 35's at the most.

I voted 3+

True although I love 4+ trails to death I just can't affort to go to Moab as often as I'd like. Most of the time I use my rig for camping, fishing, or getting as far away from civilization as I possibly can. Often times having a capable rig is just some good insurance even on the "easier" trails.

i vote 4+/5 i built my rig to beat the crap out of regularly. i enjoy challenging myself and my rig to extremes. scenic stuff is crappy in my jeep, i'd drive my stock bronco on dirt roads.

I want to know who thinks they have succeeded at creating a 5/5+ and still have it be a legal icecream runner?

Add a windshield and move to Texas, mine would be legal. :D

Ooh, I'm waiting for the answer to this one too. I certainly didn't make any attempt at street-legality, but my definition of what makes a 5/5+ trail wouldn't allow for much (if any) body parts or bumpers to be retained.

I voted a 4. It's built cheaply for now as finances are low. When my wife gets out of Nursing school next year, then some more quality upgrades are affordable. Eventually it will be up to 5/5+, and trailer status. My pic is out of date also, it now has 5.29's 35" ssr's a welded rear, and poor boy suspension lift of around 6". With a light foot, and some thought it'll go alot of places.l

I put 3.5-4+ I prefer to not completely trash my truck, but at the same time, I prefer some challenge. I have been having a blast in the Rodeo. Still open, running 33's, and manage most trails in Moab. I haven't attempted Prichett, nor do I want to at this point.

I know the limitations on my truck(IFS being the biggest) and don't like holding up others I go with. I usually attempt the hardest line I can find on Hells Revenge, Metal Masher....not "hard" trails, but I try to challenge my truck in small doses, not a full trail.

My question came up with a Troy (94Rodeo) He now has double case, SAS, Teralows, Lockers, etc. At what point does it sort of become too easy? I love it because I can find a challenge. Troy has to try and find the hardest line, and even then they can be too easy. At what point is it too easy and loses some of the fun?
