yes they did in the rear for a very limited time.but i guess the same person forgot to inform you they were also an aluminum differential housing.in short not worth it

all 96-98 v8 grands have a 44 in teh back with an aluminum center. it's better than the 35c, but aftermarket support for gears and lockers is limited. Other than that it isn't that bad of an axle.

I lincoln locked my 44A and DD/wheeled it on 35s for over a year. Hard. No axle failures,spun bearings,twisted tubes, ETC. I wouldn't dump much $$ in one if you can avoid it though. An 8.8 is the way to go if your starting with a D35.

ZJs have better rear suspension geometry compared to TJs and their wheelbase makes them a blast to wheel on Moab slickrock. You'll love it, until something gets caved in. Bring hefty bags to pick the glass up:D
