That is helpful, so I could find the drivetrain from a early 90's Blazer of Sub, and swap it all over to my waggy? Prolly $2000-$2500 for the whole set-up?

What about just swapping in the engine and using an adapter to match my 727? I am starting to get cold feet about spending that much money (2 grand) on a rig that I paid $400 for!!:greg:

I realize that I wouldn't get the better MPG without the overdrive, but I already have a good trans and t-case

IFS GM's are Drivers Side drop Suburbans and blazers didn't become IFS until 92 All 73-91 Subs and Blazers are still pass side drop

have you thought about switching your current 360 over to propane? Plus what kind of intake and exhaust do you have on it? Do you have all the smog crap on it? If you do, rip that sh1t off! Do you have headers or an aluminum intake manifold? A lot of these things are cheaper to do to get MPG gains without the whole swap. I would not spend the thousands you're considering if you don't plan on keeping the vehicle for some time.

Have you thought about a diesel? I'm a big fan of the 6.5L TD and the 6.2, they mate to any GM tranny and adapt well too. don't buy into the talk that they are worthless, they are just miss understood, my 6.5L puts down almost 500ft/lbs.

BlackDog

one small mod at a time
Dennis Dillon here in Nampa,ID has a 5.7 LS1 outta vette, probably get the whole shmear , MAF, Spaghetti, Brain as a package.

Think about it, 5.7 reliabiltiy, and mucho's horse.

TAP in Fresno,(unless ya gotta keep it all american) will sell you the Lexus 4.0 for $1350, everythin down to the MAF, 22r/3vz pattern, and they make adapters for chebby trannies,

265hp/275trq,4 cam, 4 valve, non-interference head, the LS400, (read land yacht) gets 30+ mpg.

I love a vortec, though.

(have a cold and have been typing under the influence of Nyquil)
(caveat: I want to say this makes sense to me, small cherry, power through efficient design, high revving-good for way low reduction right? light-weight, and more hp than the gas guzzling 360, hell, better or equiv. #'s to a Vortec 5.7)

Yes I have thought about swapping the 360 over to propane, but my main concern with doing anything with this motor is that it as over 200,000 miles on it and I am not sure what would happen if I started to try and get more power out of it.

The engine is all stock (to my knowledge), yes it has the emissions equipement, but I am pretty sure that they check to make sure that the emissions equipment is in tack when they do the tests.

No, you're wrong. When I swapped in the 401 in my old CJ, I had no problems ever with testing after I pulled all the crap off. This isn't CA...
