hey guys what is involved in the process of DIY beadlocks?
You take a set of Steel wheels with standard backspacing, and weld an outer ring to the outside edge of each wheel. Paint em, then remount the tire, and bolt another ring over the outer tire edge.

I just got the rockstomper kits myself. once you weld thi ring on, you mount the tire on halfway, so that the front bead is still not on the wheel. then you put the other ring over the bead that is not mounted yet. bolt the two rings together with the tire in between them and your done. Hope this makes sense to you.

so the tire lip fits in that gap, then you tighten the bolts down onto the rubber?

yeah, as Kruzr said the tire gets mounted half way and then the front bead gets pinched between the two rings (where you see the bolts in the pic)

Here are some more pictures: DIY Beadlocks

If I were to do it again, I definatly wouldn't get the recessed bolts. Go with regular hex bolts.

Talk to Rocklogic or Rockstomper. ;)

I am going to be using the regular hex bolts on my DIY for two reasons. The first is they are a PITA to tighten down cause you have to torque them two three or even four times beofer they are all evenly seated. The second is if you smash them on rocks and dmamge the head at all its going to be a real PITA to get the bolt out because they are allen head. Hex heads are much nicer. (My TR Beadlocks were counter sunk allen heads too)
