What is your Favorite Charity?

I like to keep things local as much as possible, but one of the best big charities out there is Feed The Children based in OKC. I'm very familiar with them since I've done a lot of consulting work for them over the last 7 years. Everyone knows how critical I am of charities that waste money, and I'm very cynical about a lot of big charities (some that I've worked with and some that I haven't). FTC is a good one, www.feedthechildren.org, and they do a lot of corporate/event activities where they'll get big companies to match donations by giving huge amounts of product (food, hygiene, medical, etc) in addition to cash.

Having had a kidney transplant I would give it to National Kidney Foundation. My meds are over $3000.00 a month. I'm living proof they help people.

I'll throw in the local Crisis centers. I donate to the Midvale center.. basically it's a place for parents to drop off kids if they are losing it and have no one to turn to. It shouldn't need to exist, but I think if more people knew about it, we'd read fewer depressing stories in the trib. It's kind of the forgotten service.. they are always really suprised when I call and ask when I can bring in some toys... no one donates to them, and they have always been REALLY grateful.
