what kind of holster do you use for concealed carry?

Doing a little market research....

So, what kind of holster do you use when you carry, and what do you like and dislike about your holster? What would your "perfect" concealed carry holster have as features?

A friend of mine and I have started a company making some pretty amazing holsters for concealed carry that we think will really have a lot of advantages over what is available right now. We're working on getting our holsters into Scheels for their grand opening, and have some other local retailers that are interested in picking them up as well. We've already done a lot of research and have our main model just about ready to ship, and we're now thinking about some other models. We're filing the patent info on Monday so after that I'll be going into more detail about why ours are different, and possibly starting a thread about an RME discount or something. I hate to be that guy that is all quiet about his product but I promise I'll have more details w/ a website link ASAP!

Thanks,
Ty

Do you need a beta-tester?

Just realized I didn't answer any questions.
I would like to try in-the-waistband sometime.
I've just been using a fanny-pack even though it just screams "CONCEALED WEAPON". Not sure if that's good or bad.

I prefer the inside the pants style. I love my galco and it was pretty inexpensive. The only issue I have is with it trapping moisture during the winter months or when I'm hiking, underground, humid places etc

Inside the pants with a soft felt holster is what i use, The only thing that i dont like is if you draw the gun it's a pain to get back in the holster because it's a soft holster:(

thanks for the feedback! keep it coming! So far, the little that has been said will be addressed with our holsters! (even you Kiel! -and that is the main advantage of our holsters!)

BTW, they will be IWB (inside the waistband) holsters.

haha, not just you, but your gripe with your holster. That is a very common downside to every single holster on the market....except ours! :)

I have a Crossbreed IWB holster and I love it. It is the molded plastic/leather type, so there are no straps or snaps to break or get stuck on anything. It is super easy to re-holster, and it retains my gun very well.

For IWB, crossbreed supertuck; for the reasons that Bryson listed. For OWB I really like Blackhawk Serpa. My day to day setup right now is a Galco ankle holster with a thumb snap on the inside. I didn't think that I'd love it, but I do. Sure, draw time isn't as fast as other methods of carry but I'm more concerned with being able to carry a firearm at all, rather than being the fastest draw in the west.

For informational purposes, I carry a S&W M&P40c.

During the summer I use a belly band holster. I have a hard time since I carry a full sized Glock 20 so its kinda hard to conceal.

In the winter I carry with my blackhawk holster but it still hangs out a lot. My wife asked me to always carry with something that will retain it well.

Something that could get as close to my body as possible and still have a good snap or way to secure it would be ideal.

I'm too fat for an IWB so I mainly carry outside my pants. I usually carry my S&W AIR LITE 38+p in a custom Ostrich holster made by UBG holsters. I'd be interested to see what you have to offer.

IWB, but I'm really thinking about getting a compact gun and getting an ankle holster. I have a hell of a time keeping it covered when in the waist and I wear jeans everyday at work, so ankle would be easy. Weekends would be something different though.

I would like some kind of swap-meet to compare holsters and try other styles. Holsters are so expensive that I tend to not carry rather than risk spending a chunk of change on yet another holster I won't use. Bring all your holsters, possibly sell the ones that don't work for you and evangelize the ones that do. Ideally at an off-road location of course...

And Ty, this would be your chance to show your stuff...

It's true, finding the right holster(s) for you, can be a costly adventure.

I ended up with 8 or so holsters for my XD40sc, as it was my first CC rig. Took some honing in on what and how I like to carry. I used 2 of the 8 holsters; Crossbreed Supertuck, and Blackhawk Serpa.

THis.

I carry a Kahr CW9 in an Uncle Mikes IWB holster. Would like to try a few out, but really see myself carrying on the ankle.
