I'm interested to know what local outdoor shows your watching and listening to. I've had the opportunity to work with several of these programs on different projects over the years and make a habit of at least previewing each episode or segment of the ones I've dealt with personally. I DVR the tele episodes and catch up on the episodes when I get spare time in town.

When Adam Eakle and the Roughin' It Outdoors team attended the RelicRun in 2010 it renewed my interest in local outdoor television programming. I had watched At Your Leisure on and off over their run but it seemed in the recent years they were doing more and more product review and at the same time more stuff outside of Utah, turning their show into 'Intermountain' rather than Utah specific. Good for some, less appealing to me personally but its is still a great show. I now watch just about every RIO episode, I like Adam's approach and depth of activity coverage. New to the seen Hooked on Utah is a pretty great show too, they show some 4x4 stuff and have expressed interest in doing some more in that genre. I've never really been able to watch an entire episode of Maverick Kick Start, its got some neat segments and I applaud their 'kick-starting' of lives for their viewers but its a little too high energy for me at 2am when I get to watch the episodes :D

Trail Master Outdoors Radio is great, they have an early time slot on KALL 700 and that makes it hard for some (me) but if I'm in town I try and set my alarm to the radio so I wake up to talk that gets me excited to head to the mountains or desert. I've not had much experience with Backcountry Radio or KSL's Outdoor Radio program, I wish I could record the episodes as easily as I can the tele broadcasts.

So what do you watch or listen to? What do you like or dislike about the current offerings? What would you look for in a new offering?

You didn't leave an option for none. Most of them unfortunately are on at weird times when I am asleep. I do catch roughin it outdoors on occasion.

By voting for none, I recognize you watch/listen to none ;)

This isn't a scientific poll to find how what percentage of our users are watching what... just which one(s) get some preview.

However I would say vote for RIO, you don't have to be a freind of the program to say you watch it :D

I've never seen nor listened to any of them. Had never even heard of most of them until just now.

I think you would really enjoy some of them, just about all cover hunting and fishing in fact some cover that genre about exclusively. You'll get a feel for which ones 'cover' the story and which ones are 'part' of the story.

Sorry to say it, but since Doug Miller died I haven't watched many of them. I watched the replacement show for a couple weeks then quit when they shuffled times around.

I'd like to listen to the Trail Master show, but it's on way too early for me to catch. :D

AYL, RIO, and Maverik's show are on late at night, so I get to see those.

I'll watch RIO when I can. Eakle is a really cool guy, and his coverage of the Relic Run was a lot of fun. I can't stand the Maverick guy, he sounds slightly retarded. Nothing against the mentally challenged, it's just that particular guy with his wierd slurred style of speach makes me want to bunch babies. Also can't stand AYL. Super boring product reviews. Perhaps if i were into boating I'd watch it, but I can't stand the hosts or most of the segments. They're editing/story style seems old school to me. It's dull IMO. I don't catch any of the radio ptograms unless Kurt is on them.. Too early for me in most cases.

I guess I should say the only one of those shows I have watched is Roughing it outdoors. I never know when anything is on.

I really enjoy "The Big Outdoors" w/ Steve Brown & Tony Abott on 1320 kfan at 7:00pm on nights with no Jazz games. Probably the best hunting radio show.

I know I'm definitely in the minority, but I don't have a TV, so I'm limited to internet offerings (hulu, netflix, youtube, etc.) The AYL guys ran a trail with us at SWCF last year, but I've never seen an episode. Other than AYL, I hadn't heard of any of these shows before. i'd love to learn more about our great state through media. Do any of them have web content?

Never heard of it. Hunting/fishing only or do they cover other outdoor topics?

Usually hunting and fishing.

But they do talk about land use a quite often. They were very involved in the rightaways for water fronts.

And last night they had on the Lt. Gov of Utah to talk about the states frustration with Sec. Salazar and the meeting with Dir Albbey from the BLM.

They are starting to get more involved in states rights. Steve Brown, the main host is the one that used to be a sportscaster and Jazz announcer. He gets very fired up when you start talking about politics and the feds involvement in states rights.

The more I think about it, they really do cover a wide variety of outdoor topics. They talked about NPLD last year, ATV outings. I think they are someone that should be contacted to educate them about our groups.

I watch and listen to none of them. But I don't really watch or listen to much rv or radio in general.
