I've been a big fan of toyo's MT's and never had any issues with them. The other ones I want to try out on my Superduty are the Procomp Extreme AT's. Some of my friends swear by them, and they are less expensive.

Well I think the Dura trac's will be better for around town and in the snow (wet traction) over the M/TR's. The D/T's carry the "winter mark" rating but the M/TR's have a Kevlar side wall witch is better for airing down. I have ran both and they both serve a purpose but I did dislike the very flexy sidewall on the D/T's. But my truck weigh's a lot more than your Toyota

it is only between the goodyear mt r or the goodyear wranglers

Why? If you really want to learn, open you mind to other suggestions.

So, for the unsolicited (i.e. not Goodyear) advice, I loved my BFG All-Terrian T/As. Got over 80k miles out of them, ran great on the highway in all all conditions and obviously an excellent off-road tire-both rocks and snow. Very hard tire to beat!

Currently I am running Cooper Discoverer STs (went to them due to size availability.) They have been great on snow and ice, a little louder than the BFGs on the highway but still not bad at all. Unfortunately I have not had much change to test them off-road, bit they are a grippy tire. They have 30K miles on them and still tons of thread.

X2 on opening up to different options!

There are a few other tires out there that I think (from experience) surpass the Goodyears and are a better price. For on/off road I'd have to say the Cooper STTs, They're substantially quieter than my Toyo Open Country MTs and have lasted a dang long time! Of course they're gonna to be a little louder than an All-Terrain, but if you're going to be doing any decent off-road, you'll want a little more bite than an AT. I had em for a few years then sold em to a friend for close to what I paid for em cause they still looked close to new... just a thought.

MT/R's are great. For what you say you will do with them, I would go that route. I do want to try the Dura Trac's on my tow rig next time. Pretty soon actually. Rocktickler, what were the problems with sidewall squish?

When I tried out the new BFG MT, I didn't like the soft sidewall because it made me feel uneasy on side hills. Just really felt weird.... And I was only running them at like 18 or so psi, like BFG recommended... So I'm not sure if it's the same kind of thing...

My step brother is the one that posted this. He kinda sounded rude and biased the way he said it was just between the two tires. I think the reason he is looking at those two is he is getting some kind of discount on the Goodyears.

No offense taken on my part! You didn't seem rude.....just closed minded!

If the Goodyears do the trick for what you need out of a tire, and the price is right can't argue with that!

However, from what I found, you would have to be getting one heck of a deal to make them a better tire for the price than some of the other options (when I put tires on my Dodge CTD Quad cab last fall, Cooper Discoverer ATRs ran $300-500 less for a set of four than any of the Goodyears I looked at.)

Wow, our intelligent American youth are just shining through in this tread!!

But on topic, I might jump on a used set of STT 33x12.50 with 80% tread for $500, what do you guys think?
