I have a rear bumper/tire carrier that I need to have refinished due to the powdercoat failing and cancer spots developing. I'm going to wire brush the cancer spots and have it sandblasted, but I'm torn on how to refinish it. Any recommendations? I'm torn between powdercoating, bedlining or POR15/Automotive Paint.

I could just talk to you but I feel like posting this. Sandblasting won't take the powdercoating off, at least on the non cancer spots. So count powdercoating out. You can't powdercoat it unless it's bare metal and washed with a Zinc based wash.
Second of all, I wouldn't do anything Brett says, his jeep was rainbow colored.
Bedlining would be sub-par for you jeep so I wouldn't bother, and HPC is for rich people. So that leaves you with automotive paint. I'll call Painter Dave and see what he can do for us.

I'll blast it with steel grit and it will take the powdercoating off, spray it with train car paint where I work.It will be black,it's tough and look's good.If your interested, let me know,I'll be in park city this friday.

I've tried a million different things and don't like anything. Bumpers take a lot of abuse, even if you stay on the road. I don't like powdercoating for the reason you stated...as soon as a rock chip hits it moisture gets underneath and bubbles up the paint. Lately I've stuck with rattlecan. It is the easiest to retouch up and by far the cheapest. I have used POR 15 chassiscoat black with good results. It is very tough. It is also expensive. The last time I painted my bumpers on the jeep I used Rustoleum in a quart can. I thinned it real good and painted it on with a foam brush. It smoothed right out and didn't leave brush strokes. I was impressed. YMMV.
