im running 16x8 with a diy bead lock welded on making them 9s

running michelin military tires and they live at 4 psi and never burp a ounce. have had them on some pretty tough trails and in some crazy positions.

i ran 16x7 inch aluminums for a while could air down to 6 without blowing a bead the tires measure out to 40x13

From what i have seen on a 12.5 inch tire 8" wide rims are the way to go steel or aluminum. Anything wider than 12.5 you want to go with a 10" wide rim.
This is a little off the subject, but i think for 35 and 37 inch tires a 17" rim is the way to go. With a 17 inch rim you get less tire bounce when your trying to go up verts.

No its not off topic its part of the point of this thread nate, everyone says different stuff about what wheel to run i wanted to get as much experience and info in one spot for people to view so i encourage everyone to give there advice and imput on this thread.

I agree with you on the wheel size i generally try and stay at about half the tire height for a good balance of side wall and tire control

I'm trying to decide which size I want for my 35's. I want 16's at least, but I'll probably go with 17s just in case I do end up going to 37s.

I'll bet you couldn't blow a bead if you tried!

Thats what i was going for......And i have always been a fan of steel wheels sure they weigh alot but if you ever bend a lip of one you can beat it out with a hammer and run it where aluminum wheels break instead of just bend

Oh and weld on beadlocks are a cheap upgrade later on if you decide and with steel wheels no need to pay someone to tig them on for you anyone can weld up a set of steelies in the garage
