well if you are thinking T-Case, and depending on what year a Rover LT230 Tcase will. 1987-88 RR have TF 727. The LT230 is much like an Atlas in size, the internals a bigger, output is suspect, however I dont know of anybody breaking one, and you can do front wheel digs.

d20 and IH d300 are the only options without changing the output housing/shaft. if you are willing to do a complete tear down and switch the tailhousing/shaft. you can run a d300, np203, np205, atlas, klune etc.....

I hope by beefy engine you don't mean another IH boat anchor? Unless you have a lot of cash dumped into your IH 727 I would get the tranny the matches up to whatever mill you go with GM, mopar, ford.

If you are planning on running a beefy IH engine  well I would switch the output to take a 203/300 doubler.

My 'scout' currently has 345/727/203/300 but will soon have mopar 451/727/atlas and will weigh 200-300 pounds lighter

hehe, I suspected as much ;) They are ok, if you like heavy, heavy engines. To give you an idea my dressed 345 weighs ~760# a SBC weighs ~575# my 451 should come out right around 600.

A 203/300 doubler takes a np203 range box and mates it to a jeep d300. gives you two transfercases and a mess load of gears. 2:1, 2.62:1, 5.3:1. In order to do this you have to use a dodge tailhousing and output shaft on the IH727.

If you are shopping you should PM me I have 2 345s and a 727/203/300 that I need to sell shortly, not to mention a messlod of other parts.

Which motor do you have in it now? I have a 304 in my 800A and picked up a 392 for $200. My 304 runs so good that I'm not in a big hurry to swap it out since I don't know the history on the 392. I've seen afew 392's around also.

Good Luck, Brad J

I found a really clean 392 in the junkyard just east of Roosevelt before the painted overpass, Its a long drive for one unless you have a reason to be out there. There is also a travelall w/ a 4 barrel intake at A1 auto on 2100 South freeway close to Rocky Mountain Raceway (not positive that its a 392 though). Other than that the best place to find them is in IH buses from what I've heard. I'll keep my eye's peeled

Good Luck, Brad J.
