what xj parts break?

Hello, I am new to wheelin, and have recently asked on here for some places to go.. I know that driver, difficulty of trail, play part on how often ur rig breaks down. I plan on going lots more and going on harder trails.. What parts are most likely to break? I have the 8.25 rear, and teraflex 6" lift with 33's.. I have been told to be sure to weld the lower control arm mount onto the uni-body before.. But any other parts I should replace now? Or just wait till they snap? :D
I know, I know, lame question, but I just wanna have a idea what to keep in mind! any help/suggestions would be great!

well as long as you don't push to hard you should be fine.but look into axle u-joints,front axle shafts, and unit bearings.do you see a trend here.the back axle should get some alloy shafts to help it survive.the front could use some alloys as well.the trans and transfer case should hold up fine.

get a steering box brace some real bumpers that have some tow points and you should be good for a bit

IMO that is the number 1 weak spot on a XJ, the uniframe next, LCA mounts, and U joints. I would also scrap up a couple extra axle yolks, if your joint goes the yolk is right behind it.

haha basically replace everything!
it all depends on how hard you are on it, and what kind of trails you run. i blew up my d35 with a 4cyl and 31" tires(open diff too), which is something no one said i could do.

wow, thanks for all the feedback.. I am going to see if I can get time to weld my lc arm mount on this week. I got a custom drive line made from grs and told em to make it burly as all hell, so hopefully it holds up. Explain more on the steering box?? I am lost on that one!

The C-Rok brace is like 60$ or close too that. When you get bigger tires and try to turn under heavy pressure (the boxed unifram is really thin where the box mounts) the box has a tendancy to tear away from the frame rail. The C-Rok claims to be able to hold true even under the pressure of a 37" tire. Ive put mine under the test with a 35" tire and it is still holding tight. One of the best 60$ parts Ive baught.

I guess I could answer all your questions, lol, time for install around 20 min, not dificult, remove the 3 bolts holding the box in place and throw away the stock spacer thats inside the rail and the box. The C-Rok comes with a heavier guage steel spacer and a outer frame plate along with new grade 8 bolts for the install.

Cost for install is free if you have I believe a 15mm socket and patience.

Any other ideas for steering box supports? I have a 95 xj, but my current bumper I believe would be in the way of the c-rok brace...

I would expect a D35 to grenade on a power wheels barbie jeep :p
