Taiwan is an eye opener ... for a 2 class society ... I had to stay there for about 2 months ... did not care for Taiwan.

I am trying to get my strait-laced friend Tim to get me a picture with him and one of the uh... salespeople, and also to bring me a damn nut. Mmmmm betel.

I went to Whistler British Columbia for work once (2010 Winter Olympics will be there). Really went at the wrong time because the skiing hadn't started.

I need to go back. It was beautiful!!!

thanks for the spelling fix .... ummm those salespeople are almost impossible to get a picture of. I was in a large LCD glass fabrication factory ... just being built ... so lots of construction people ... the "nut" was not allowed on site, because of safety.


I brought a few home to show the wife and kids ... they wrap them up in some kind of leaf ... and when we unwrapped one, there was a whiter power substance they had put in them ... no idea what it was ... I decided I was damn lucky that customs did not check me and find the nuts!

The chickypoos sit in their nothingness and wrap em up:

They sit in these total glass rooms, which are typically shoved right out to the edge of the street. When you first see one, you assume its some kind of prostitution, but you can not figure out the damn glass house all lite up in neon

Taiwan,Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Guam, Canada, Mexico and home port in Hawaii. 5 years of free travel. Most in a drug and alcohol haze.:rolleyes:

nope, not beechnut ... it's nasty stuff ... they chew/spit it like chewing tobacco. If you think spit chewing tobacco is grouse you should see this stuff … the sidewalks are full of it … it’s a red color when chewed, and spit it looks like spit blood.

It’s a strong stimulant. They put those glass boxes on the streets as their biggest customers are truckers, taxi drivers etc. Trying to stay awake.

I dunno if I'd find those here. I'm sure there are still drug type thigns going on here, but it is fairly intimidating to walk off a plane and see "Death to Drug trafficers" signs all over the place. If I were in that line of work, I'd find an easier market.. so to speak. I heard they kill em in singapore too.

I usually love trying the food when I traveled ... all but here ... Taiwan has put zero money into their infrastructure. They run open sewers and most anywhere you are stinks … bad …very weird … I’m working on a “clean room” multi-billion dollar fab … they have these large worker bathrooms, and they have no goosenecks in the plumbing, thus the sewer gases, even in this new modern building were so strong, that they could not close the bathroom doors.

Their vendor sidewalk food … ummm NO. They do have wonderful fruit, which I washed as well as I could, and basically lived off of for the time there.

Very strange place which I hope to never go back to.

Westerly, Rhode Island. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Very calm. What you would always picture a small New England beach town to be like. Houses started at about $1 Million though, so no place to live!
