Likely going to pull out of SL Thursday afternoon/evening... Plan to camp somewhere south (that easy eh?). Spend Friday wheeling somwhere... ending up camping near Richfield friday night. Do the U4 ride Saturday, dinner/rodeo that evening. Either camp out close to town, or pull a late nighter heading somewhere else? Thinking of coming home through the Swell?

I'm NOT looking to do anything along Skyline Drive really... I just got back from there a week ago and want to do something different. So, what are my options along the way?? I'm not looking for hard trails, just neat ones, up to old mines, ghost towns, great campsites, etc.

Anything cool along the Pahvant Range?? (east of Richfield)

Kanosh Canyon??

Anything east of Salina on either side of I70?? (within 1/2 of Salina)

Mona Pole? Nebo Loop Road? Either of these worth the trip??

It's cool, but I don't think it's worth it. There's still plenty of skyline left to explore! I might be down, but I've got my friend and his gf coming in on Thursday morning. They're coming down to Richfield with me, and we were planning on heading out on Friday early afternoon. But I might drag them out on Thursday evening if we can get a good plan going. I was looking at the Fishlake NF east and north of Richfield, and looks like some cool stuff.

Heading to Jellystone first thing on Sunday, so I'm probably bombing home Saturday night. Although I'd really like to show them a little bit of the Swell, and we'll be in the neighborhood...plans are fluid and dynamic and subject to change.

You know me. Come up with a plan and tell me when/where to show up.

There are a couple of ghost towns northwest of Richfield... Brigham River and Bullion Canyon... might be worth a look? There are a couple to the southwest also, Kimberly and Alunite... its a bit out of the way though?

There is a ghost town up in the mountains down in that direction that I have been wanting to check out for years... now I can't think of the name.

I think that Nebo Loop is closed do to fire.

Ah very true... the fire... Good thinking. I've actually been on the Nebo Loop, but it was many moons ago (boy scouts? family vacation?)... I'm not too hard pressed to return I guess.

Wish I could remember the name of the ghosttown I'm thinking of

Wow, there are a bunch of accessable lakes up in there, great suggestion!

Anyone been to any of them? Annabella Res? Duck Lake? Big Lake? How far from Richfield driving time?

Annabella is what like 10~15 minutes from Richfield? The roads I've been on have been nice hauling ass dirt roads. I'm going to be in Joseph on Friday... but I won't have any time to look around :(

Would that I could.... if I make it down there for the convention, I don't really feel like dragging the Blazer around on the trailer....

as stated above, the canyons around Marysville are awesome. Bullion Cyn has some cool mining relics, as does Cottonwood Cyn. We used to deer hunt down in that area, and I would always get so absorbed exploring that I would forget about the hunting.

Cool, I think that is where we will likely spend out time

So who else is in? Steve J, you down? I think Steve E. is in... most likely old man Richard too. Tom is out, someone has to hold the quarters and look out for ninjas, so he can't come! My buddy Craig and his wife might be meeting us (they are spending the week in So. Utah).

Trying to decide when I can sneak out of the valley... Wed night? Thurs night? Steve?

I couldn't leave until Thursday night, but could meet up somewhere. I'd need to be back to SLC on Sunday, so I could be down for Saturday evening and Sunday morning as well.

Finishing my U4 articles...you're writing a really good one. :)

Plan as of late...

Meeting thurs. night at ~6pm in Sandy... heading straight to Marysvale (1/2 hour past Richfield). We plan to hit Marysvale ~9:30, mabey a bit later if we stop for dinner in Gunnison/Salina area? Setup camp somewhere west of town... Spend Friday exploring Bullion Cyn & the Kimberly mine sites... ending up back on I70 SW of Richfield... make it back to Richfield for Friday night.

Saturday: U4WDA summer convention... Sunday TBA, likely up in the Fishlake Mountains (high passes and cool weather)

Cool... we likely won't know our Sunday plans until Saturday night :D Come say hi at the dinner and we'll get something planned.

i don't think I'll be able to do the Sunday thing now... I might be leaving my son with grandma while I come down and if I do, I'll need to pick him up Sunday late morn/early afternoon. If so, I'll probably get him and then go out and run the snakes with some that weren't able to go to Richfield.

That Friday trip sounds pretty dang cool.... What time you guys heading out for that? I might be able to get out of SLC in time to meet up for that :D

Update: If you find yourself with a spare day or two in the Marysvale area, Bullion Canyon and the Kimberly ghost towns are awesome. The Bullion City (Miners Park) area is an excellent preservation display, lots of mining relics  I'll have a full trip report on my website in a week or so.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
