I'm in freakin' Iowa, that's where. God, I hate Iowa, but not as much as Nebraska! Wyoming gets a pass because it touches Colorado and my adopted home of Utah. How I love Utah and it's beautiful mountains! Please, no more endless flat fields of nothing! No more grey vistas of roiling thunderclouds. An end, for the love of all that is good, to rest stops in BFE with tornado warnings on the state-run weather channel. Yes, goodbye northern Midwest, you can have it.

BUT! wonder of wonders IA has wireless at the rest stops, and despite big signs on the highway saying the wireless is only available from 9-5, it is a solid 2:44am and I am having the time of my life, online. Blistering 11mbps means no waiting to catch up on all the online bills in my inbox! I love technology.

Truck is running ok, but did NOT like the tornado-related 40mph headwinds earlier today. Seems to be doing fine now, running cool at 75mph, but hesitating slightly upon uphill acceleration. Last time I noticed that, it ate 3 valves. If that happens again, I think I'll just open the door and fall out, because that would be an unmitigated disaster.

so yeah, I'm like almost 3 weeks behind on this trip, but I think I can still get done in time. 20 hour days! AWESOME!!!! I can't wait to get started. :D But then, it beats the 35-42hr days I just did at the print shop, printing books. Or does it? Oh gosh I don't know.

at any rate, I'm tired, so screw you guys! Especially Brett and his big gay uncle. Hi sweetie! Wish you were all here, it would make this awesome rest stop like maybe oh, one TRILLION times more awesome, then I'd overamp on awesomeness and pass out. Having a hard time sleeping, I think this bleeding ulcer might be keeping me awake.

ah, man! If I only knew! I actually did stop there, for gas and I think "food". I'll have to catch you guys at the end of May on my way back home. :(

So this rest stop had a really nice flat screen with awesome radar. Looks like I am not out of the woods yet. Having successfully outrun the line of evil weather, I am now in front of it, which means it's chasing me now and gaining. I should just not sleep until NY HAHAHAHAHAH

Umm...food is available in the loosest sense of the term in this town. We usually travel vast distances in order to get prepared food unless we are feeling the bacteria level in the GI tract is a bit depleted. They do have a subway on the other side of the freeway which is nice but it gets old.

You would never believe the millions of dollars the economy of this stupid little town produces!! It is pathetic how small and backwoods this town is compared to the median income level!!

Look on the bright side, at least you're working again and hopefully making money! It's always weird to be out of the game for a few months than have to dive right back in. Yellowbronco started work again on Thursday and put in 12 1/2 hours that day and then Friday was a solid 15 1/2 hour day. There never seems to be any "break in" period ya know. One day we're foot loose and fancy free (dead ass broke as well) and then the next day...he's just gone. Ah, the joys of being seasonally employed. :)

Dude, you're on the road AGAIN...?

I feel your pain. I'm about 2/3 through with my latest whirlwind travel adventure. When the smoke clears, the damage will be:

Nevada
Colorado (5 times)
Oklahomo (5 times)
Canada
California
Somewhere on a boat in the pacific
Mexico

All in approx 45 days.
BUT, at least I didn't have to drive it. I'd be mad by now, MAD I say.!
I don't know how you do it.

Good luck, travel safely. :D

How long does it take you to make the drive from PA to UT?

We're driving straight through, and are trying to figure out when we need to leave PGH.

Edit: and yes we mapquested it, but I find mapquest to be "unrealistic" with stuff like this b/c it doesn't figure rest stops and speeding into the equation.
