Whats up RMEr's I am headed back down to Moab this weekend on another photography trip. I want to shoot from the location in this photo by Tom Till. Does anybody know where this shot was taken from? I know its up Hwy 128, that part is obvious. But where do I go to get up higher on some ridge.
Thanks in advance

I think it's very likely to have been an airplane/helicopter shot but the only other thing looks to be to go wheel up the Kokopelli/Dome Plateau trail that starts just N of the Dewey Bridge. Go up several miles and then strike out on foot to the SW until you get to the river rim and line up your shot at the spot of your choice. As far as I know there is no trail be it 4w or hiking that goes to this spot. I think it is an aerial shot though.

iam gonna agree with roverrocks. looks like an aerial shot. if you look at the canyon walls and the direction of the river and where its going that it was taken from the middle of the river which makes it an aerial shot. i have been known to be wrong before so dont take my word for it.

Elementary my dear Watson, elementary.

What do we see? Redrocks, a river, a road, monoliths and mountains.

Lets start with the red rocks, given the fact its a Tom Till work, we know its Utah, more specifically the greater Moab area. Next is the river in the foreground, given its in the Moab area, its either the Colorado or the Green. The road, well that leads us to knowing its the mighty Colorado (which should still be named the Grand River imo). How about the rock monoliths in the mid-ground, easily identified as Fisher Towers. And the snow-capped (or is that salt??) mountains in the background? Could be either the La Sals, Henry's or Blue Mountains... given our previous finds we know its the La Sals more specifiacally Mt Peale. Which leads me to one general area where one could line all of these findings up:

Wish I could post a side by side screen shot as I did get pretty close.

One would suspect you might find some tripod marks in the dirt about here: 38°48'13.32"N 109°20'38.20"W
