Where should I buy a car?

My dad bought a new corolla from BB in Provo. He was getting the oil changed the second time since new and asked the service guy about a vibration in the wheel and to look at the A/C because it didn't get cooler than 48 degrees. The guy told him he probably hit a pothole and bent the rim so that wasn't covered under warranty. He then said the pothole probably punctured the condenser, also not covered. Didn't even look at it. Dad called the manager and told them their "bend over backwards for our customers" was more like bend the customer over forward. They eventually fixed it. I'll never go there. I also hate all the lots on 106 S. they are all high pressure to sell you anything regardless of what you want.

For the record, private parties can be bigger liars and cheats than a dealer could ever be.

This! I've bought many vehicles over the years, I usually end up going to dealers for a couple reasons. Problems are negotiation points. If you find the car pulls to the left, make sure it's never been wrecked badly, make the dealership fix it, and use that to negotiate the price. I've always paid less at dealerships than private parties because dealerships most of the time either a) want to move inventory, it does them no good sitting on their lot and b) are more realistic about their prices. Private parties seem to think their shit don't stink, or their 1997 Wrangler is a classic and demands top dollar. If you know how to deal with salesman, dealerships can be used to your advantage. They also have the ability to find you exactly what you are looking for since they have WAY more resources than a private party will. It's either you do the leg work or they do it for you finding what you want. I prefer to make people work for me when I can :D

Put JL to work for you, I'm sure you'll be happy with him and he's an active RME member (good to support our own).

Yes, J Co. Not trying to minimize that. It is just that Jason is small time and relies on -all- of his income from car sales.

You need to update your signature now...ExPo approved 97 4Runner with stuff

Well.... I got cut from 'Thunder From Down Under' so the car biz is all I have right now.

I have a good friend that works for Brent Brown Toyota since 2007. I had no idea that they had such a reputation.

I would love to check out your online inventory before I head down, could you send me a link? Or I guess you could just tell me if you have something I'd be looking for. I'm leaning towards a Dodge Caravan, year is not as important to me as mileage. I would like something under 80k miles for sure. I'm open to other makes/models, I would just need to drive it to see if I like it. The husband and I are thinking we would love to only spend $10,000 or less, but I'm realizing that it may be hard to stay in that budget for a low mileage minivan. I'm also considering a Toyota Sienna or Highlander, but I'd have to go over my ideal budget and it'd be an older one. Let me know what you have.

Thanks to all for the replies. I've been looking up every dealership mentioned, to see their online inventory. I've also been searching KSL. The search continues, thanks!

I've got a 2005 Sienna and it's been great. Got 90k on it and the only thing outside of regular maintenance has been the battery. I've had it around 4 years and haven't had any issues. The 3.3L engine has plenty of power and is a solid motor.

Well, anyone who knows me personally on here knows that I'll do anything for a friend as long as it isn't illegal or unethical.

Caveat Emptor / buyer beware. It does not matter where you buy just know what you are doing. I have found "word of mouth" like this forum to be the best sources of information,
