Where to buy steel plate

I need a piece of 1/4 or 1/2 inch steel plate to make a winch plate out of.
18" long x 7" wide or so. Does any place in Salt lake sell just little pieces?

Wasatch has some outside storage and scrape, if you lucky. Metal mart in Lehi is about the same way. Those two are the cheapest. Or Metal supermarket off 17th and about 6th west, will cut you whatever you want, but charge for it too!!

Just go visit Carlyson and get a pre bent universal plate.

I have never put a winch on. Is the metal on a pre fabbed winch plate
thick enough to be welded to a bumper?

I always get my plate through wasatch steel. I get the 20 inch by about 4 foot piece inside if you ask the guys I think it ran me about 25 bucks last time

I have a sheet that will work. May need to be cut to length. 1/4" plate

1/4" is just fine. 1/2" is way to thick.

I buy my plate at Wasatch Steel also.

you can go to metal supermarket and they will shear it to size for you. there off of 5th west and 17th south

bud built also sells prefabbed winch plates that have bends in them and a spot for the fairlead for around 40 bucks

Thanks for all the response. I ended up just getting a winch plate from Carl Plus.
