where to get DOM

Weird. I thought this question had been asked before, so I tried to do a search before posting. I searched for "dom" and the response was:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

I searched again after making this post (which clearly has dom in the title and body), and still get the same response. Is there something wrong with the search function?

Very odd. We are looking into the search issue. Not sure about tube in Utah county, but it maybe worth your time to call Marmon Keystone up in SLC. From memory you have to have a $500 minimum, but there prices were much better than other steel dealers I could find. This was back in the spring FYI.

Well crapola, that doesn't work for me. I only need 4 feet. I don't know anything about this stuff. A friend told me to get:

DOM, 1.313 OD, .313 Wall Thickness, .687 ID

I only need about 4 feet. Maybe someone has some of this spec they can part with? Or is there somewhere that will small amounts straight to the consumer?

Can't help you with that. Are you sure on that size?? I have only seen tubing come in 1", 1.125", 1.5". 1.313 sounds kind of odd to me. If you can use 1.5" that is very common and any fab shop should have some they could sell you.

I would go local before I went here, but I have bought from these guys before (some specialty brass) and they were fine to work with, they will sell short pieces and have a pretty good assortment. But they don't have any 1.313 still.

He is building some type of specialty bong I believe:rofl:

It's a peace pipe!

I'm building a new drag link after putting a bend in my stock one over the weekend. The specs are from a friend who built a similar replacement drag link, also for a Scout. I think the OD doesn't matter, only the ID. He's got a tap for that size which is the size of the tie rod ends being used. I'll confirm all those specs.

1.25" .281 will be easier to find, and is sized for tapping to 3/4-16 also. Try Metal Supermarkets yet?

If anyone is keeping score at home, I found out about that size. Metal Supermarkets does have 1 5/16" OD, 5/16" wall, 11/16" ID. The friend who gave me the specs went in there looking for 1 1/4", 9/32" and they offered the slightly larger size to him. That's why he recommended that spec to me.

I ended up getting some 1 1/4", 9/32" from Rocklogic 4x4 for a good price. It seemed better to support a U4WDA sponsor anyway. Thanks Seth!
