It's stupid cold outside, and I have an 14.75'x27'x9' (400sq ft.) uninsulated corrugated steel shed I attempt to work on my Jeep in.

What's everyones' opinions on forced air heaters?

Propane vs. Kerosene?

How many BTU's do I want?

If natural gas is an option, that would be your best route. It's a pain running the plumbing, but oh so nice when it's done and you never run out of fuel.

I run an 80K btu natural gas unit in my well insulated 1000' garage, and it'a more than enough. I used to run a 40K btu kerosene in my then 600' garage, and it worked well. If you want to borrow my 40K heater for a day to see if it's enough, that could probably be arranged.

I use a 55,000 BTU Kerosene model, usually running on diesel since it's cheaper. It works OK, will eventually heat the whole place but it takes a long time due to my lack of ceiling insulation.

I have this one and it works really well:

30,000 BTU

It works really well. It will go for about a long day on one BBQ tank (running nonstop) but unless it's really cold (below 20*F) I have to turn it off every once in a while because my uninsulated garage gets too hot.
