Just curious to see everyones opinions on this subject. I already have a 44 in my CJ so I won't change it, but I am still curious to see which side of the fence everyone rides on?
Yeah, that is the thing with me too. everyone with an 8.8 says "If it does break an axle, THE CALIPER WILL HOLD IT IN" oh that's great. real reassuring. And how long do you drive with your rotor shoved into the brake pad for?Originally posted by Jeremy
I agree with Marc, I'll never get over the c-clip thing, and don't tell me the calipers will hold the shafts in, that's not very comforting.

The stock 44 on my rodeo came with disc breaks. It also has some beefy shafts in there. I know of a bunch of 5 lug full floater 44's at a friends work. They are headed for the junk yard from what he told me. So i know you can get disc breaks and a full floater 44. If I were to go for a axle swap I would do the 9 inch and put disc breaks on it like my friend did.

Speeking of rodeo axles, anybody know what the wms to wms on a rodeo 44 is. I know the new ones are coil sprung but unless I am mistaken, the pre98 or so ones were leaf.
Just wondering if the would be a suitable swap to a cherokee???
