Sean, get the Passionate Plum. It is a built rig that has been set up right. The only thing you would have to do (but not need to do) other than maintenance is put a 60 up front if you went that crazy. It is already set up for what Ryan is doing to his, and you don't have the headache.

As to the above comments about Toy's vs. Jeeps. In my opinion it doesn't matter what you have. It wheels. I personally like Jeeps, but I love wheelin with anyone. But I'm with Bart on this one...why were the Toys pushed so heavily? I understand that Sean did mention them in his original post, but he said he had it narrowed down to those 2 Jeeps for now...

Anywho, it really is a non issue. Sean, get a rig already so we can go wheelin!!!!

Totally agree.

I apologize for bringing Toyotas into this thread. I honestly thought he was looking for info about whether we would buy a toyota or a jeep. Sorry to offend the Jeep guys. Carry on.

I was leaning more towards the passionate plumb also I just don't know if I can swing that price tag, I should have been more clear I am leaning towards a grand cherokee more than any other vehicle. I am open to all other listed vehicles there just isn't a whole lor out there, I am a jeep guy but the last 2 rigs I have had were toyotas I like them all but I do agree with you bart. Thanks for all the input I'll see what I can work out

In a few months some deals should pop.up. its always tough to sell a rig in the winter time, so the prices typically go down from Dec-march (at least it seems that way to me.)

My 2 cents on what I would buy...

I would go with the Plum ZJ... if I had to pick between the two listed. No comparison here between the two when you consider all the extra mods/components on the plum colored one.

On another not I have owned a lot of off road trucks, including many different brands and most of the models used on the trail today. For a weekend warrior and family rig the XJ's and ZJ's are wonderful trucks. Creature comforts/cush ride/lots-o-flex/power/and tons of mods/parts and tech articles out there ready for you to customize it more for your needs or just keep it in good working order.

Every truck will have its up's and downs especially a used rig, but you have to do some PM work to all offroad trucks in order to keep em gonig (I had some issues with my grand too, but worked thru them and loved the truck)
Also, sometimes you can just live without the stock horn...lol

So the small things needed for the plum colored is not bad at all. If ya got the money to snatch it up then its a great deal in my opinion. I think your family would love it over more cumbersum SUV's that need work and/or extra mods to get out on some decent trails.

Only additional thing on my mind would be to replace the front spool with a selectable locker to help reduce the wear and tear on the drivetrain and also save your arms on a long weekend. :D

Just to stir the pot....I have loved my Mitubishi.

But certainly much more difficult to build anywhere near as capable as the plumb GC.

A selectable up front would help, but it does have hubs so you don't always have to be locked in up front. I used to run with just one hub locked up front until I needed all 4 tires. You can also add hydro assist, and the steering box is already ported and ready to go for that.
