who else is trying to find something positive in the UROC RCAA merger?

I am really trying to find something positive about this whole situation. I feel like I am elbow deep in dog crap searching for the 2 karat diamond this Mutt named UROC swallowed a few weeks ago!!

I am new to competing in the sport. I have been a long time spectator of UROC but news as of late just makes me worry.

Hearing about competitors that have been long loyal to the sport talk of leaving it over politics.

There is a reason we all do this sport...to AVOID politics but we seem to end up right where we don't want to be.

This bone is turning sour in my mouth...someone throw some gravy on it and make us all feel better!!

I tink good things could come from it, however I fear they won't.

Both RRCA and UROC had good and bad about them. If the good of each combined, it would be great, if the bad of both combine it would be awful!!

They way things seem lately, it it leaning towards the bad of each combining....
Craig is gone (lets not get into that again!), and Poo is doing what poo does.

Curious to see how it all shakes out.....

Maybe Prorock will be the way to go????

What was good about UROC under Craig? All the driver's I ever spoke with said it was the fair and consistent judging, the integrity of the organization. You don't have to wonder if the judge on a particular obstacle is hosing you 'cause one of his buddies is also a competitor. Craig brought that, along with the original crew that helped him start it. I know that this will continue if the UROC judges/marshalls stay. I trust the Marshalls and have watched them make calls against competitors who I know are good friends of theirs. If it stays fair and honest the competitors will stay and it will grow. Just my $.02.

This sport will never be back the way it was the first couple events until we run our own rock crawl and no one person is incharge or buying a house with our money......
Until then you'll throw your money in garbage sack along with POO....
And until this day it will be called the
WWF Monster Truck Boom Boom Huck jam...
Giddyup ;)

I think crawling is bad in Moab so: I don't compete there.....
I don't agree with Poo's actions so: I don't give them my cash...

Hopefully the best thing that happens in this situation is in less than one year POO gets shoveled up and tossed in the dumpster...**** talkin little Bizzzllleee

I guess it really all depends on what people want out of this sport. If it's nothing more than a weekend of wheeling to ya and a chance to see if your better than the next guy, maybe it's not the way to go. Or, if your so deep and involved in it, and want it to be the next 'slice of bread' and win millions doing it, maybe it is the way to go.

I only competed once (in the very begining). Had a blast doing it, but realized that in order to really do it right, we needed to 'upgrade'. I have however, watched a lot of them and the one thing I keep seeing overall is the enjoyment people and teams have doing it. If the enjoyment goes away, do you still do it? Guess it all depends on money right?

I think if the new organization can keep the enjoyment for the competitor's and still intise (sp) them to continue, it might be a good thing.

I could be totally wrong, but that's just my thought.

So Suka, lemme ask you this. I mean this in no disrespect, more of a 'just curious' question. Does the outcome of combining organizations change your business plan? I understand that if you don't compete for various reason's that's one thing, but just wondered if it affects you 'business wise'.

Here is how I see the new UROC shaping up over the course of a couple years:

There will be a drastic increase in the number of events (more events means more cash and the overhead to put on the events is there: i.e. Pateys) up to 15 to 20 events a year ranging from North Carolina to California. In order to win the series title it will be necessary to compete in all the events.

Naturally, the number of competitors that can afford to compete in all the events will be limited to those with deep pockets or can secure enogh sponsors to make a living competing. In the end I see this being about 25 to 30 competitors per event all competing in one class similar to CalROCS "Pro-Modified" Class, with restrictions on making the rigs look like some vehicle.

Events will only last one day, as this will provide ample time to get 30 competitors through the courses and will reduce the time needed to put on an event. There will also be an increase in admission prices.

Some sponsors from outside the rockcrawling industry (Coca-Cola, Viagra, Kraft Foods) will join in to allow all the costs to be covered. It will be great if you are one of the teams that is able to be involved, if not, you can go compete in ProRocks. However, in the end I see ProRocks aligning with UROC.

OK - You ALL have an oppertunity to make your voices heard about Ranch's involvement with UROC.

Go to the UROC website. There is a link where you can leave your comments.
Better yet, go to the contacts page and get the email for Mark Patey.

Send him your comments directly.

Now that being said, let me say that you should be polite, professional and give him the information needed so that he can make the correct (for you as competitors and for UROC as on orginization) decision about Ranch.

Give him specific instances, examples and situations.

Give him names and phone numbers so he can call people to get their side of the story.

Give him your name and phone number so he can call you and ask any follow up questions he may have after reading your suggestions.

This is a way for you to have a VOICE in the orginizatio (and re-orginization) of UROC.

Nixter Dog,
No prob that's easy.
The combining I wouldnt say would effect me personally or business wise because my business is here because people know who I am and have come to understand by working in this valley for years that I'm honest and I do great and hard work on their rigs and don't want see them spend to much for parts that i know what they are being charged for.. As far as business and my rock crawling goes it wouldnt also affect me to much except if I quit UROC.
That's where I have a championship title and also a second place year finish that would be about it..My sponsors are mostly around me and help me out because they know i know alot of people and try to put on a great show and also help their business by promoting their products and such..Mostly friends of mine that beleive in me...
I know the reason why I'm the only one sponsored for the last six years from Interco is mainly because of my relations and tire sales and support of their company..My honesty and watching Interco's back..basically we are all like family...
I'm basically an employee that's paid off with tires... Get me......
That's true friendship......
They would support me if I went anywhere! they ask nothing of me accept to show up and kick some butt if I can....

Scott,
Great suggestion for all of you who have dealings with Ranch. I would suggest that you send the Patey's both your negative and positive comments.

Ya, that's kinda what I was thinking.....just curious if it would affect maybe the volume of business you do. But, as long as there are comps and/or people wanting to build comps or well built rigs at a quality price, they have to go somewhere. Anyway.....you got TV right? :D

The best part of being on TV and doing rock crawls and such is when kids come up and want autographs and want to meet you...
The Moms always come up and ask if you have time to sign something or talk to there kids and I will keep working when someone is trying to talk to me but not Kids I stop everything to try to make the biggest impact I can on them....

I get ya..... Do you have posters? My kids are decorating there room's with 'em. I tell them that 4 tire company posters don't really look good in their room but they don't care. They love it! It's actually pretty cool. I remember as kid I would decorate with Mr. T or Big Foot.
