Guy I worked with last year shot a honey-blonde colored Black Bear, while hunting Elk. He got the bear tag as a just-in-case deal & didn't expect to actually get anything. To his surprise, he was in the right place at the right time. He had all the meat turned into summer sausage, said it was the best way to prepare it.

We have a bear at our family cabin in the Nine Mile canyon/Argyle ridge area. They set two traps but the bear tried to get the bait from the wrong end. Tripped the trap and drug it up the hill trying to break into it.

my mom and her brother and sister are spending the week at the cabin. they have always been aware of the bears up there, but this year they are having seriouse problems with the bears herassing the land owners.

last night this big bear (the biggest that anyone has seen up there in the last 30 years) spent most of the night on the front deck. when it got board or realized that there was no easy meal there, it wondered down the hill to a cage trap (set by the fish and game people) to find a free treat. the bear was either too smart to be traped by the cage or too dumb to fond the front of the cage. he atempted to get the baite from the wrong end of the trap. causing it to close. well i guess that wasnt good enough for him. cus he drug the trap up the hill a few hundred feet trying to get to the taisty morsell inside.

we will see how it goes tonight, and i will give an update tomorrow.

but if any body had a bear tag in the nine mile area, i could give you some great directions to a fairly easy hunt.

I'd never seen a bear in the wild, but we saw one up near Strawberry a few weeks ago. Just old enough to wonder if mama was still around or not....

Smallish black bear with a gold band around it's chest. FAST little bugger...

it might make it less painfull as the bear eating you:eek:

no. you misunderstood. i was refering to the Joe problem.

as for seeing bears in the wild, we went to the cabin all the time growing up, and there where many times we saw bears walk through the property. even had them up on the porch a few times. i have spent many a sleepless night in that cabin. but its been about 12 years since we have seen much bear activity up there. now its worse than ever.
