Who heats or has heated their home with a wood burner?

It all depends on the length of your flume and the type of wood you burn in the stove. Hard wood does not require a frequent cleaning schedule. Consider purchasing your own chimney sweep as it is not a difficult task to partake. If you would prefer, give my telly a ring-a-ling and I will bestow my knowledge of stoves upon you. Once you have enjoyed the warmth of a stove, you will find yourself yearning for more.

Don't burn Cedar, the smell will permeate your house and you will never get it out. Smells good at first but then becomes obnoxious.

I too burn cedar and have for many years. It's all I prefer to burn in my home. I am unaware of any unpleasant odors.

We used it for 12 years and it was almost sickening to walk into the room. But I still love the smell of Cedar just not all the time. Too much low cost Cedar in Missouri I guess.

Been cutting/splitting and burning wood since I was a kid with my dad.I have 2 at home now and they will heat the house sauna style if you let em.I look forward to fall and splitting the 3-4 cords I burn every winter.Only on green days!!!The key is a good blower setup.

Not to hijack your thread, but I have some questions.
Does any one have a dual fuel stove? Is there such a thing? I'm looking at putting something in my living room and am looking for directions or suggestions.
Anyone got connection on stoves/inserts?

Ours is kind of dual fuel (wood or coal). Don't get one like ours though it has way too small of a firebox. We plan on replacing ours with a good one eventually.
