Who here actually owned the original Pong?

You remember, the very first game console, rotating paddles, with only various racquet and ball games on it. What was it Coleco (sp) or something? We also had the full size arcade game "Asteroids" too. Those games were awesome.

My GRANDFATHER had that, of all people. Also had the old-ass shooting game that was out then too..

I could swear it was some kind of Sears console but that might have just been the TV.... long time ago!

Actually I think you are right, I originally wanted to say it was a Sears console but I thought I was losing my mind.

Pitfall was awesome. I think they made a new version of it but it wasn't that good. Same with that new suckass Spy Hunter, not really related to the original at all. Imagine that with point-of-view in-car cam, and cool replays....

I'm still waiting for an updated River Raid. I loved that game.

Still have an Atari in the original box. Used to have a ton of games until my brother gave them to his in-laws . . . they still play them
Anyone remember when the TI came out?

River Raid.....That was a great one. What was the one that the criminal was dropping the bombs and you had to catch them?

I started out with the original pong, I remember how excited I was when we opened it on christmas. Four modes, Tennis and Wall (or something), one or two player. It was a few years later we opened our first atari with the Breakout cartridge that came with it, pong with a twist. Space invaders and missle command came next, I remember when we got our first color TV to hook it up to and breakout became colored blocks. My first computer was the Vic 20 though, It came with a cassette drive to store stuff on. Boy were we glad when we finally upgraded to an Apple IIe and could use 5 1/4 floppy disks, talk about tons of memory, of course we still didn't have a hard drive in the IIe but boy it was fast. Yep...the good old days.

Pitfall was the bomb! :D The newer version did suck, I believe it came out on the shortlived Atari 64-bit Jaguar. It was the adventures of the son of Harry Pittfall. River Raid also ruled as well as Poll Position. My uncle had the Atari 2600 and used to let me borrow it all the time for weeks at a time. Atari ruled, but then we all graduated to the NES with all night super mario parties!

Just never could get into Pong. Too much of a pinball addict at the time... Big box you could beat on and shake and slap. Place to put your smoke and a coke right there next to the flippers. Lights flashing, all kinds of noises, that awesome crack! sound of free games racking up, heavy tunes blaring, would even see a semi hot chick (in a slutty sort of a way...) hanging out, or get in a real fist fight once in awhile at the arcarde. Compared to "bink.... bink... bink-bink... bink... bink-bink-bink...". Pong was for old guys drinking beer at the Pizza Hut .

I'll do that, but here's MY question: What on God's green earth made you search for a thread that predates your join date by 7 YEARS to put your post in???
