What is your power bill like running that vs A/C? The wife and I both hate heat so A/C is 100% a cost we have no issues with but I'm still curious.

No solid numbers, but WAY less. My initial calculations/estimates were something like this: Run the fan for 2 weeks straight 24-7, on the amount of power the A/C uses in one day. Or something.

I wonder if a whole house fan would cool down a shop that had no other source of cooling and good insulation.

Too many variables for me to pin something down but our peak August bill went from $178 to 147. The rest of the year is high 40's to 80's.
July and August are worst case scenario because you may not see evening temps below what you want to start the house off in the morning.

The significant savings is the other warm months of the year that you might run the AC for 2 hours a day opposed to 8-14.

The side benefits of purging the house while cooking, painting, working in the attic...whatever, we run the fan a few minutes every day even during the winter to keep the air fresh.

It's also nice not having floor/box fans staged all over.

We made it through May again without turning on the a/c. Between the shade sails and the house fan, it’s really quite tolerable.
I think I’ll keep pushing to see how long we can last. Kind of an old man thing to do.. but why not.

My A/C has not been on this year yet either. It's been really close a couple times, but I stayed strong. 😁

Dad? Is that you? I’ve argued with my dad for years about A/C. He’ll be sweating his balls off in his house, 76 degrees. I tell him he could probably be comfortable for $5-10 more a day and he just isn’t having it.

I’ve had my A/C on quite a bit. Cool nights it’s off and the windows get opened. My 4/10-5/08 bill was $67.75. No ragerts.
