Why support your local 4X4 supply shop?

Hope no one thinks this is "shameless promotion", I couldn't figure out where else would be best for this thread. (Moderator, feel free to move it if necessary)

I went down to Mepco today to grab a set of their LCG arms, and hopefully a set of coil springs (if I could swing the price...) for my Jeep Liberty straight axle project and got a heck of a lot more than I thought I would.

Mark, (head cheese at Mepco), Sold me a set of "Blem" WJ 4 inch springs for a fantastic deal, he went out of his way to dig these up and offer them to me when otherwise I for sure would have had to pay for a brand new set... somehow :). He really seemed to want to help me get what I needed on the budget I had. He also really worked the price on my LCG arms. I couldn't have asked, begged, or pleaded to be treated any better.

And this wasn't a one time shot. A week ago I picked up about 600.00 worth of the Teraflex modular rod ends, you know, the really really really beefy ones that go on their LCG kit (the ones that are indestructable!), and Sam treated me with the same exact kind of service, help, and ultimately, "value".

All of this kind of pushed me to post this thread, it made me think on how everyone in the world right now seems to be leaning towards that elusive web search, the one where you find the part you need for the three bucks cheaper than any other place around, you order, wait for it to show up, and hope they shipped the right one, oh yeah, and you pay the outrageous shipping charges..............You know, it sure pays to support your local shop, tell me when you'll get that kind of service from a "mail order only" shop? Sure, local shops are in business to be in business... aren't you? But to also keep the customer in mind as number one... well, that's just refreshing, and I appreciate it a lot.

So to Mark, Sam and the boys and girls at Mepco/Teraflex... a huge thanks!

You must have gone in on a good day. When I was locker shopping, they wanted $100 dollars more for a Detroit than I payed for one shipped from
Randy's. I like local shops unless they are trying to put it to me.

Rock Logic is cool.

Maybe Mark has realised that the company can't support itself.
It's nice to hear someone have a good experience with the Falkner's, and anything they are associated with!!

Mepco has alwats been very freindly to the U4WDA and fighting to keep trails open... they donate product each year on our belalf, for that alone, I think they deserve a pat on the back!

I am glad you had a good experience with Mepco. I have had too many bad experiences with them & will only go there as a last resort....

You've got to at least give them that. I've never had a 'bad' experience there, and have selectively shopped there for various items.

I've always had pretty good luck with Cruiser Outfitters myself. Kurt has always been great, told me when prices were about to go up, got me great deals when I was in dire need.

Thanks to you too Kurt!

mepco... ewwww
that is all i have to say, unless we make this into a bashing thread then i have a lot more to say
okay, i have a little
rocklogic is the place for me, too many other shops either treat you like an idiot, charge you too much, provide crappy service or say they have things they don't
been jerked around too much by mepco and ftm and i think i am beyond the point of using them as a last resort because it is not worth it...

Yup, and for that I will continue to support them when they've got the stuff I need (plus they buy Cruiser stuff from me ;))...

Really though...

Why dump money at a place that doesn't care about the future of the sport.. ie keeping trails OPEN... anyone can sell some parts, but to donate some $$$ to the land-use arena... thats the big cheese!

Too many haters... :(

If we giving props I have to say there are two in my book.

Rocklogic wrote the book a Customer Service (enough said)
Cruiser outfiters, Kurt has go out of his way to get me parts and deliver them to me when needed. Again, Custoer Service.

These are two companys out of how many in the valley.

Keep it up guy's.

My fav shop has to be Mt Logan Offroad. They always help me out without making me feel like a total idiot. Went to Mepco 2 yrs ago and was treated negatively. I would go back if I needed a part ASAP and noone else had it.

I've never had a 'bad' experience with Mepco or Tera, but I have at least a half dozen friends that have worked for them and because of their experiences, I try and deal with them as little as possible. Too much shadyness and political BS.

I was at mepco last weekend getting some goodies for the new rubi and the owners son couldnt remember half of what we were asking him. I thought he was hungover or something, but my dad said "no, he is always like that" then left and went to Rocklogic, man what a difference, now i know why i have spent all my money at RL4x4 the last couple of years.

I have never had a bad experience with Mepco, but I have had some bad experiences with Tera.

I would highly recommend Anarchy Offroad, small shop, but you get extra attention payed to every little detail. And the owner backs his product, no questions asked.
