Thanks for the comments Wild Bill. For the rest of you, lets not turn this thread into a bash fest. I have only visited FTM once, and they treated me very well even though I didn't buy anything from them. They struck me as a good group of people, and on the comp circuit, they are always professional.
I too have only been there once. I bought these sweet BEEFY tie rods that they built and some heims. The guy that was working with us took the time to talk about all the toys in the shop. We checked out this sweet bronco, and the FTM buggy. I must say for the mear $150.00 I spent there, the customer service that this guy provided was top notch.... if they actually had crappy customer service instead of no customer service i would say they were alright
when i went there it took them 10 minutes to ask me if i needed something and i was standing at the counter while they sat there. and then they told me they would find my part and came back 20 minutes later and said they didn't have it!!!!
what a waste of a lunch hour imo.
ftm is way close to my work, but i actually drive to rl which is further and i have even gone to b on lunch which takes a long time. if shops make an effort to provide good customer service and friendliness they will get the most business
I know a lot of the guys at FTM and like them all, I think they do really great work. Sometimes I question whether they are more concerned with how the work looks than how it performs. I've seen some really really pretty stuff come from there that I thought had some design flaws. I'm no expert though....
FWIW, The few times I've tried to give FTM a chance, I've asked Matt Holme to get me a price on something and even though he's a close friend, I still havn't even got a call back. Maybe because we're friends I don't get taken seriously. They've always been super nice when I've been in their shop and I know there are lots of happy customers...
