It has been 2 years since my wife Angie had her first stroke today. Last Feburary was the one year anniversary of bringing her home to her parents to recover or...... Tuesday I was able to go with her to therapy at LDS Hospital. I was able to see my wife walk 20ft with out a cane or any assistance. Imagine a toddler walking for the first time, that's exactly how she walked. Big grin on her face and mine! She hasn't walked normally since stroke 2 June 16 2006. I've put her wheelchair van up for sale this week since she no longer needs it/refuses to use it. On March 26th we meet with the IHC Transplant department for her kidney transplant. We are hoping for a transplant around May/June of this year.

Very cool. It is great to see her progress and the positive attitude you/her and your families have kept up all this time. Attitude is a HUGE part of healing!!

IIRC a sibling is a match for the kidney??

Yup, my younger brother is the donor but he's getting married May 10th. Donors need 6 weeks to recover, so I don't want to cause any uh honeymoon complications :D.

Good news indeed!!! It really sounds like you guys just needed a different doctor - which really sucks, because you never know which is a good one until you DO find a good one.

Not just a different doc but a whole new hospital system helps. I look at the U like most of us look at SUWA. -_-

About a month a go Angie had a meeting with her kidney doc. She looked him straight in the eye and said " When am I getting my kidney transplant, dammnit!" After she had just walked in. Mom and I were doing our best to contain ourselves. The last time he say her saw she was in a wheelchair and not talking very well. So she got him with both barrels.
