A full width hp 44 would be pretty easy to cut down. Chop one side, clear out the tube in the knuckle, heat and press on, weld’r up!
As long as I can retain the 5 x 5.5" bolt pattern, it would be nice to have kingpins. But I kind of feel like that's polishing a turd, putting a lot of money into a Dana 44. I'll have to go back & reread how you did that.
I wouldn't even worry about king pins on your willys. Grab a 99-04 super duty axle. Doesn't even matter if you grab a d50 since the knuckles are the same. Then you'll be able to make the unit bearings 5 on 5.5.

This is exactly what I did. Only 5x150 in my case.
Want to do it again?
You don't even need me to! Branik (and probably others?) sell the unit bearings already machined for 5x5.5.
$$$$$$$
Sounds whiny.
I had to farm out the bolt pattern milling. It was still cheaper than buying new unit bearings, but not by as much as you might think.
Greg,
Digging up the past here, was curious if you finished this project?
