What is everybodys winch of choice.

I am not really looking but a neighbor has one for 300. I think it is a warn 8000i. Any suggestions on this or others???

Thanks

WARN WARN WARN WARN WARN WARN WARN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAVE HAD EXCELLENT SERVICE AND PERFORMANCE FROM MINE!!

I did break the mounting foot on an old 8000 I had during safari one year. Went and talked to the rep at the show. He said he would take care of it. He took my name and address. When we got home, there was a new winch on my door step with a call tag and shipping paid to return the broken one. That kind of service makes me a very loyal customer!

Ski, want some ramsey stories?

A friend of mine lost a truck due to a ramsey. He was winching up a hill , almost to the top, switch pushed still spooling in, all of the sudden everything let go, winch unspooled, as if in free spool, and the truck was gone!! I believe the gears in the winch let go. The winch was rated much higher than the wieght of the vehicle.

Can't say I have a lot of experience with any other winches, but I very much like my warn. I have the HS9500i. However, Warn now has a new 9500 with the thermometric switch. sounds pretty sweet to me.

If I could have gotten a good deal on an 8000i, I would have gone for it. Is it in good condition?

If the cable is a little worked, I'd check out the new non-steel cables. I'd also check to see what you can get that winch for as new.

Yup, that sounds about right... :D This kind of stuff is the reason I got a Warn.

I have been testing winch rope for a while now to determine whether or not to run/sell it. I was a bit skeptical at first, but have been really impressed with it's strength and durability. Also, the price on the stuff has considerably dropped since the monpoly of the main retailer (won't mention names ;) ) now has more competition in the industry.
BTW, I have a 125' long 5/16" steel cable that is in pretty good shape that could use good home if anyone is interested. :D

Id snap up a 8000 in a sec, your going to be hard pressed to beat the speed and also 8000 is alot, unless your in a full size truck one ton or something.
