Yeah, so apparently that trail is closed in the winter to any vehicle over 700 pounds due to the fact that they groom the trails for snowmobiles. i guess they posted signs but they keep getting pulled down. So we got about 3/4 of a mile up the trail and were met by search and rescue, they told us the situation and followed us back down to the parking lot where a local Sherrif was waiting. Luckily everyone was pretty cool about the whole deal, no one got a ticket but they did take down everybodys drivers license and give us warnings.
So it sucked but I guess it could been worse. Its just to bad cuz we had a really great turnout and the weather couldn't have been better. I guess a small group was going to go check out Providence, so we'll see if they post up how the rest of the day turned out.

So what happened? Cops shut you down?

Yeah, they shut us down. Apparently you can't be over 700-750 pounds and be on wheels to go up. I apologize to all that showed and had to leave so soon, but it was fun for the short bit it lasted!

The Deputies said they keep putting up the sign stating the weight-wheel limitations at the entrance, but it keeps getting torn down.

Five of us headed for Providence (we called the Sheriff's Dept this time to make sure we could drive up), but by the time we got there one of the guys had to go home. So, four of us headed up the trail and had a blast pulling each other up, and romping on the snow. We'll finish this up in the trip report...

A few of us went up to a little play area near Hyde Park. Nothing too exciting but it was fun. I thought Providence was closed.

Did anyone that went today actually know that was closed to rigs 700lbs and over?

It sure as hell wasn't groomed when we ran the trail on 12/16/07. Of course, there was maybe one snowmobile trailer THAT day :p OMG, does everyone and their dog have a snowmobile??? I hope someone got a picture of the parking area (since I should have  )
