The SuperCar you can build yourself...

http://www.factoryfive.com/gtmhome.html

The Factory Five GTM.... basically a kit car that uses Corvette parts with a Porsche trans-axle for a mid-engine monster. It weighs in at 2,350 #'s which is more than 1,000 #'s less than a new 'Vette. Full tube chassis that's Tig welded, you build it up from there. LS7's make 505 HP... could you imagine that much power in a car that weighs less than 2500 #'s... with a mid-engine, helping plant that power to the rear tires?

They claim 0-60 in 3 seconds, 11 second 1/4 mile times, 200+ MPH, etc. Price of the kit is $20k... you add a wrecked Corvette for the engine, suspension & braking, then a Porsche trans-axle.

Factory Five says you can build the car for around $30k... That's not much at all for a car that can pick off much, MUCH more expensive cars!

I saw that at SEMA, looked pretty good.... But the still-really-fast Ford Coupe chassis impressed me more. That, with an EcoBoost? Hell yes. :D

$30k is not much for what you get, if you can commit to putting the time in to do it right, and finish it. I have a buddy in Colorado that's been working on F5 Cobra for 7 years. Made a lot of progress the first 2 years and lost interest. I believe it's just collecting dust in his garage and hasn't been touched for years.

I remember seeing the vids of that 2-3 years ago. They were running down ferrari's like nothing at the track, you could tell the drivers of the 300k plus cars were pissed to be passed by something a tenth of the price

Bump! FFR took their newest project prototype to SEMA:

WRX running gear (2wd), a total build cost under $15k, sub 1800lbs, this thing would be a riot of a commuter.

Simply beautiful. I love the GTM as well. I wish they made that WRX based car 4wd though.
