Has anyone built there own trans/t-case crossmember? What is a good material to use? 82 Cj7 Np435 & Dana 300. I was thinking of fabbing something up with like 1x3 square tube? Any ideas/pics would be great.

A friend of mine did, in fact he lives up in Ogden. I'll tell him to repond. I thought he used round tubing.....but not sure.

I used what I had around. Some flat 1/4" drilled to match the old bolt pattern and 2.5" square 1/4" wall tube cut in half to make it more of a C-channel. Just set it all where I wanted it and welded it together.

I bent some 1 inch black wall pipe from the good ol' hardware store. Bolted 1/4" plate to the frame and tranny, then welded in two lengths of pipe. Cheapest route I could find, extremely strong yet pretty light, and for some reason I love the look of round over square.

Very nice, what style bender do you have? Does anyone have any experience with the harbor freight el manual benders? I used to use one in my metal fab class in school but I never bent anything real big with it

Actually works pretty good if you're on a beer budget. Crimps the pipe just a little bit, but who cares!
