xj problem

this is the thing i got it from a freind its an 89 with the 4.0 auto the thing is the trans is a 94 and t case is 95 it wont shift at all do i need a different computer ? or what any help will be awsome thanks

My son used a 96 xj aw4 in his 87 mj and he didn't have to change out his computer. Will the tranny shift if you manually shift it? My son in laws xj had a similar problem and it was the fuse holder in the fuse block under the hood not sending power to the tranny control computer. If the tranny controller loses power it defaults to 4th gear. You can drive it but you have to shift it between gears manually.
