So my friend has this stock XJ, and I'm trying to convince him to come out and 4-wheel sometime, but he says there's a leak in his coolant hose somewhere and he was told they'd have to take his entire engine out to replace it and that it'd cost him a couple thousand dollars... that didn't sound quite right to me, what should I tell him? Is that true?

Even if is a bad head gasket...It should come in under $500. parts, labor, machineing (sp) the head.
I just finished that same job in my brother's xj.
