For how relevant this tech is, it's interesting that nobody who posted before still has an XJ. ;) (XJ Nate doesn't count, since his is mostly missing)

If Bryson would buy us a burger, I'd even pick him up and haul the fridge back down. It's a good evening for all!!!

If it's a burger from the drugstore in Kamas, I'll come along and I have nothing to do with either deal. (Which is appropriate, since none of this has anything to do with this old thread)

The relevant part is that XJ's still have a known weakness in the steering box area.

Fast forward from 2005, there are now a dozen manufacturers who make/sell XJ steering box area uni-rail reinforcement plates and the one's which have incorporated weld-in sleeves for the steering gear bolts are providing the total solution. Slapping on plates (welding them on is preferred ;>) ) will help reduce the potential of uni-rail cracking in this area, but without the addition of weld-in sleeves, they do not prevent the uni-rail from compressing and flexing when the steering gear bolts are tightened and/or torsional loads are applied to the area as the gear turns large tires.

Ok, enough nerding out.......back to bartering for Marc's XJ with tainted toast.

I have been kicking around the idea of trying to find a un-modified blown engine xj from Arizona or New Mexico so when our "frame" does give up I can swap all my stuff over.

But I am just weird.

I am on my third one. Still have parts from my first one on this one. Finally got smart or maybe it was stupid, who knows but I caged and braced almost everything.
