YJ, 5.3, 4l60e Shifter choices

I am putting a 5.3/4l60e in my 90someting YJ. I am ready to buy a shifter for the 4l60e but can't decide which one. I am leaning toward the Lokar floor mount with the 16" handle, but I REALLY want to know if other people like it or if I should consider something else. I had originally looked at the Winters shifters, but I don't really want to build a console to house the shifter......

:confused:
Opinions/experiences??????????
Thanks.

For street driven/off road rigs I much prefer the looks and functionality of the Lokar. For buggies and comp rigs you can't beat the Winters/Art Carr shifters with the cut out tabs. JMHO

My rig will see very limited on road use. We dont have terrible laws in Southern Idaho like you do in Utah, so it will likely be driven to work occasionally and most likey it will be driven to the trail until I can afford a trailer.

You wouldn't happen to still have your old drivetrain would you?
I got the body/frame from a salvage yard without any drive train, sorry.

ART CARR....
I am leanning back to the Art Carr/Winters shifter, but I was really planning on just having a stock type center console so the idea of building one is taking a while to sink in.

Art carr is the only way to go. I have never really liked the lokar units

I have heard that the Lokar will be difficult to operate when strapped into harnesses.

Winters = Art Carr
You are correct, I don't understand why they are selling the same equipment under two names though...

I believe Winters is the manufacturer and sells them to Art Carr. I had a Winters in one buggy and Art Carrs in 4 others.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Make sure you get the Winters if you go that route. I like to confused look on peoples faces. I'm not a fan of Lokar. They make great stuff and in a hot rod it would be my choice. Try a quick 1st to reverse and you'll end up on your lid.

From what I've heard you can remove a tab on the Lokar also, to make that shift. Twisted Customs used Lokar in most of their comp rigs.
