yj axle disconnect

Is there a way to control the vacuum disconnect on the d30 on a yj? I want to be able to disconnect the front axle and keep the rear axle in 4lo. I have a front lockright. I know teraflex has the fork that goes in the transfercase but I thought there might be a way through the vacuum disconnect that would be cheaper?

The vacuum disconnect is only on one of the axle shafts up front so there isn't a way to use it to disconnect both shafts.

What I'm going to do is just run a "switched" vacuum line down to the axle so I can manually connect/distonnect it w/o molesting any of the working of the joint.

Don't dink with the vacume... I know that I have seen a writup on it somewhere (either here or on Utah4x4club.com) on how to make it cable actuated instead of vacume, it is still only going to disengage one side but it will make it easier to steer and you won't have the hinky vacume issues that come with having vacume actuation :)

I had the same problem back in the day. THe lockrite made driving the jeep unbearable. I fixed the issue by installing warn hub conversion kit, which was pricey. Later when one side exploded i found getting parts to be a PIA and $$ again. Finally i went with a D44. Years of trouble free bliss followed aaaahhhh at least until the tires got bigger but that's another story.
