YJ steering box porting for Ram Assist

CREEPY CRAWLY
Has anyone ported a YJ steering box for ram assist? Anyone got any pics to help out. The one side of the piston looks pretty easy to find a spot but the other side look pretty tight. I would rather not port the end of the box since the fitting would be right out in front to get damaged.
Thanks for any one that can help :greg: :shawn:

You've got the right idea by NOT porting the top and end cap. Drilling/tapping the housing itself is the way to go. I have tapped more P/S boxes than anyone I know in the area, so let Me know if you need help.

BTW, many of the boxes produced in the last few production years of the YJ have only one sector shaft seal. If yours is like that, it is important to have us machine a new snap ring groove lower in the sector shaft area (of the housing), so it can be "double sealed". Also, I strongly suggest rebuilding the box while you've got it apart.
