Your Pic of The Day

Went to play in the snow today with @Gravy
He had a new sled to test, and I wanted to give the tracks another try. We had a good bit of fun.

And then I shut off my sxs to talk, and then nothing. Completely dead battery. Not the most ideal place to have a dead battery.
I thought I had a jump pack back in the truck, so I jumped on Stratton’s sled and went for a ride while he went for a little snow hike.

No jump pack at the truck, so I pulled the truck battery and brought it up to jump the sxs.

Had a good time. But realized snowmobiles would be significantly more capable than my sxs on tracks.

From my dad who is BEYOND excited for you and your coin: "
Possible better date
It looks like there could be some good detail if cleaned up
Whether it has a mint mark can determine value
Mont mark is found at 8 o’clock on reverse

Coin is worth $10.00 for silver value
Cleaned up coin with mint mark could be several times that"

I know he LOVES the Standing Liberty quarters (speaking of my dad). The first years of minting showed Miss Liberty with a bare breast. There were some some other variants through the Standing Liberty quarter years which makes them pretty interesting. At one time he had a collection put together of Standing Liberty without the spendy variants in like 66-67 grade and up.

Interesting page and accurate to my knowledge. (my dad would/could shoot holes in any discrepancies within the article if you're interested in me having him review it)

Being a half, I have NO idea about it

Even more from my dad:

I think condition on this one makes it a melt value item. Fine by me, my kids can sell it for melt when they find it going through my stuff. As of right now, they'll find about 5 lbs of melt value silver. Hopefully a lot more by the time they find it. And actually, when I say 5 lbs of melt, there are quite a few items in there worth a lot more than melt.

My dad LOVES that stuff. He's texted me at least 6-8 times today about the coin.

This is the "nicest", and my favorite coin I've found metal detecting so far. It's not super valuable, but it's my favorite. An 1885 O Morgan dollar. It was encased in leather and came out of the ground looking not too much worse than this. I gave it basically just a little soak in TarnX, some rubbing with a pencil eraser, and a good finger scrubbing with dish soap and hot water to get it looking like this. Part of the reason it's a favorite is I found it in a spot in Nevada that I had researched the heck out of and went there looking for big silver and big silver I found.

I think probably the most valuable coin I've found so far is an 1895 O Barber dime. It's in pretty rough shape, but it's a rare coin and probably could sell for a lot more than this silver dollar. I found that Barber kitty corner from the temple in downtown SLC. That little piece of ground has been detected by at least hundreds, if not thousands of people. Absolutely could not believe my luck!
