I think any sports club that got caught piping in crowd noise would get crucified. I believe the rest tho, and can vouch for the background static on your phone call.

Sure enough there is a quiet background static while it is paused. If you want quiet again you have to power off and back on. Must be one of those signals to the brain to let you know that it is still on, and working and not a dead battery.

A few months ago I walked into my office and it sounded like the HVAC was turned on turbo or something. It turns out they had installed a white noise system, and were testing it. It's since been turned down, but is still always there. Now I notice it when I walk into other buildings.
