One quickly searched article on the Idaho proposal specifically states candidates CAN list their party affiliation as part of the proposed single primary (i.e. all candidates regardless of party participate in a single primary.)
If there is other info out there that contradicts this one, a link would be appreciated.

I would dare say you have cause and effect mixed up. The fact that extreme conservatives in some parts of the country are convinced "liberals" are out to destroy all they hold dear and extreme liberals are certain "conservatives" detest them (which is probably not wrong) drives the division.
It is not a product of moderates who realize we all live in the same country, want mostly the same things (peace, prosperity, happiness) but have a variety of views as to how to achieve those goals.
I dunno about that. I just want peace, prosperity, happiness, to not pay extra money to other countries when our own infrastructure is falling apart, to be left alone and not have rainbow dicks flying in my children's faces all the time and according to that stance I'm a right wing extremist... Currently a "moderate" is basically cucking to whatever the left wing wants because you're too big of a pussy to make a stand for your family. And to that I say "good luck". (I am generalizing, no personal attacks)

I used to not care so much and be a moderate. It all went too far. Now I care a lot.

I'll have to take time to look them up, but this is one of the most liberal resources out there.

Assuming that is an accurate assessment of the proposal (I would question that but of course have not looked at the actual proposal, since I am not in ID) as has been said it has nothing to do with ranked choice.

Beyond that, your assessment on the importance of being on the extreme, refusing to accept others think differently and that Trump is the savior of our country are all things I strongly disagree with.

OK, but as has been said, those two are not the only options (especially on the Republican side) .
But we certainly do hear people support one of the two because they are the 'front runner' not because they actually believe they are the best option.
I think we really ought to have a Bears Ears sized presidential monument east of the Mississippi. It could be a great protection against all those evil folks wanting to destroy the environment... See it's easy when it's something that i don't have a stake in, don't have to live with the impact of millions of acres that are locked up. I just get to feel good about it.

I think the images speak for themselves:

The Biden administration refuses to enforce the law and is preventing Texas from enforcing the law. The result is over 10 million illegal immigrants since January 2021 and that number climbs every day and the migrants are getting bolder by the hour, as you can see above. Think about that number, that's roughly five times the population of Utah!

Disgraceful is the only word to describe what's happening at the border.

This issue alone is probably Biden's biggest weakness and if Trump wins, it will because he's promising to close the border again. I don't want either of them in office, but if Trump wins and he manages to close the border and start's rounding up and deporting people here illegally, that's the bare minimum I can hope for.

10 million is a large number, no question. But to be accurate Utah's population is hair under 3.5 million, so 3x Utah's population not 5x.

We should not hold Congress (including the GOP controlled House) innocent when it comes to immigration.

WE need to fire all of those assholes for the next 4-5 elections. Clean house! Get all the lobbyist groups the hell out of there and start over. I've always thought that was the actual appeal of Trump. He's a "businessman" not a politician. No mind that he's not that ethical (is anything in New York real estate ethical?) but he's not a politician. I think that's why he's "popular"?

Immigration is a legal process. People tearing down a barrier and overwhelming the national guard is an invasion. As bad as you feel the immigration laws are it does not justify the ignoring of those laws.

Three times, five times? At that point does it really matter? Its still more than the populations of 40 states! It is ~3% of the population of the entire county. Its an insane number of people who have illegally crossed an international border with no consequences! This happens nowhere in the world except here under this administration.

No, but it is the Executive Branch who is responsible for enforcing the laws on the books. That means the Biden administration currently, and they are refusing to enforce the laws which would prevent 10 million people from illegally entering the United States.

I agree completely that the level of illegal border crossing is absurdly high.

But as with many things, I think presidents claim too much credit for the good and take too much of the blame for the bad.

Congress needs to be held accountable, including for issues like immigration reform which they choose not to take action on.

As I have said before, major overhaul of the immigration process is the only real way to have long term impact on illegal immigration.

The US only allows about 1,000,000 legal immigrants per year.

Roughly 38% of those are by a relative's (US citizens) petition. That process is painfully slow. When my wife became a citizen, had she immediately started the petition process for her siblings, they would have been eligible to actually apply after a wait of about 20 years.

The remaining immigrants come either through business sponsors (require high skill levels and companies must prove they could not hire an American with those skills) and a most through lottery program with strict limits as too how many people can come from each country.

A very small number are approved through official refugee programs.

Obviously this is not meeting demand and is greatly different than when my (and probably most on RME) ancestors came when requirements where basically show up at a border crossing without a major contagious disease and don't be Chinese.

As a leader, you are responsible for what your team does. As the president, you are responsible for the success, which you should credit to your team, and the failure, which you should own. That's how good leaders operate. The previous president took credit for everything and blames everyone for his failures. The current president takes credit for things that aren't even happening and blames everyone for what failures he is cognizant enough to be aware of. Not much difference in my book.

As to the process, why would we import people with no talent or skills when we have an abundance of that here already?
People rushing the border isn't a sign of more demand for immigration than the process can supply. It's a sign of lawlessness.

I'm going to catch fire here, but when there is a riotous storming of the capital, it's "staged" for the media and clearly a conspiracy. When something like this happens, of course it's clearly not staged.

Just sayin.

I would agree and normally discount all media, but I've been listening to several non fox pod casts were numerous people have been to the border recently and described the same thing.

I am all for lawlessness. I am not for being bared from traveling on certain federally owned and managed lands where I would be ticketed and prosecuted for violating those travel restrictions, only to have a certain group be permitted to travel illegally on federally owned land. Let me moto through arches and I'm down to let the southern border crashers do their thing. I try to be morally consistent but I am a wet robot so I miss the mark frequently.

wet robot ha ha.

I'm not saying it is staged. There is obviously a problem at the borders. I just think it's funny how hard people try to poke holes in one side's stories, and don't try to poke those same holes in their own. Truth has nothing to fear from questioning.

Reminds me a bit of my friend that lived in Portland. She'd have people with tents set up on the sidewalk outside her house for months and nothing would happen. She had her rear bumper extend halfway across the sidewalk one day for a couple hours and got a ticket for blocking the sidewalk.
