I am far from a legal scholar but I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before……..Has anybody ever heard of a case where a defendant has been barred from calling expert witnesses like was done in this case let alone a state prosecutor being allowed to trying federal charge?

Lets get this over with:

Donald Trump Found Guilty on All Counts in New York Hush-Money Case

Personally, I think this hands the election to Trump in November. Its astonishing to me that the Dems think this is going to hurt his chances. Had this been the classified documents case, maybe. But paying hush money to a porn star? No one cares, everyone knows the case was politically motivated, and now people who were nominally on Trumps side but may have wanted to avoid voting for him are totally going to punch his ticket.

Just stupidity all around.
I’m not sure about this. Regardless of the motivations, a jury saw all the evidence and convicted on 34 counts. So it certainly doesn’t move the needle much, but on the margins voting for a convicted felon who might not be able to cast his own vote might keep just a few more people on the sidelines. In a close race that’s all it takes. Not sure who wasn’t going to vote for him before who now will.

I think all this mess just reminds me it's not red vs. blue: neither one cares about you; it's us vs. them. And we the people need hold the powers that be in check.

Red vs. blue is an imaginary manipulation meant to confuse us into thinking those in power have our best interests at heart when really they're all in collusion together.

The hard core MAGA crowd won't care. Trump was depressingly correct when he said he could shoot someone and not loose votes from his base.

But even the loss of 5-10% of Republicans or decreased support among independent voters in a couple swing states can easily change the outcome.

And outside the Fox News crowd the claim of a corrupt, politically motivated criminal trial is not widely accepted.

I don’t consider myself MAGA or whatever label you want to apply. I’m sure there are millions of voters who feel the same as I do.

Based on responses outside of msnbc I’d say this isn’t accurate at all.
I don't listen to Fox or MSNBC.

Having friends over a very wide political spectrum (with most falling in the middle) I will stand by my statement.

Again just illustrates how poorly both parties did in selecting candidates this year.

Republicans could have selected candidates with a solid conservative (but not extreme) platform and beat Biden easily. I was hoping for that.

Democrats could have had Biden choose to not run, pick a non- controversial candidate and easily beat Trump. My second choice.

If both did so we would have had a real election based on ideas and solutions. A positive regardless of who wins.

So your 5-6 friends still have the same opinion. Gotcha.
That’s not what’s being reported around the country however.
You may not be watching Fox or msnbc but clearly you’re watching someone mainstream as you like to lump all trump voters into “hardcore MAGA crowds.”
Next you’ll always refer to trump as “convicted felon trump” like they’re wanting you to do.

It is always interesting when people criticize "mainstream media" as biased (I use 3-4 media outlets on a regular basis) then turn to self proclaimed conservative media thinking they will get unbiased information.

As hard as @Houndoc tries to appear to be a middle of the road liberal who gets his info from many sources, he lives in a far left echo chamber. Even Democrat legal scholars like Alan Dershowitz are pointing out all the flaws in this trial. No legal scholar that I have seen has been able to explain how a state court can bring a misdemeanor who’s statute of limitations have long expired back to life and how that said state court can then try and turn it into some federal election violation and prosecute on it. State courts are not allowed to try somebody for a federal violation. It would suffice to say that if they are not allowed to bring matters of federal election law into their trial. however they did do just that. It would also suffice to say that since the prosecution brought federal election law into the case then the defendant should be able to call expert witnesses on his behalf…..however his defense was very confined on what the judge would allow an expert witness to testify about.

Doesn’t it seem odd that the #3 guy at the DOJ would quit his job to join the prosecution team? Anybody want to bet that he gets his job back at the DOJ in the near future?

What most people ……..even people who do not like trump see is a case that has a high political motive behind it. This case was turned down by the Federal Election Commission and even Alvin Bragg himself…… but as soon as Trump announces he is running the indictments start falling.

Even my friend who I have known my whole life who is a screaming liberal sees it for what it is. To quote him “all the democrats wanted was a conviction so they can call him a felon. I know this will not hold up under appeal……there was to much blatant judicial bias. Hey but at the end of the day I like the fact that we can call this asshole a felon leading up to the election”. If someone cannot see the political motive behind all of this like my liberal friend and be honest about it……then yes I do think that you are a complete FU&@ing moron

Sorry man outside of your echo chamber there’s a ton of people calling this a sham for what it is.
The judge is a Biden donor for Christ sake. Nothing impartial about that.

Don’t forget that his wife has ties to one of the other prosecutions and his daughter works for a democrat PAC as a fundraiser. And if you don’t know people who do fundraising get paid a percentage of what they raise. She has made a pretty good living off of trump. But hey there could not be any conflict of interest in that. Also, why is it that when cases are randomly assigned judges, this judge gets all the trump related cases.

Nothing to see here.

I always find it funny when someone says the maga crowd won’t budge no matter what
Trump does. While also laying on a sword to ensure anything can and should be done to keep him from office.

So to add to my above comments…..the political/judicial double standard is what is is most apparent in all this. The claim for it all is that it should have been a campaign contribution not a legal expense. 130k dollars. But yet a candidate can hide 1.9 million in illegal contributions and they only get a fine if they are not Trump.
