I doubt it. Otherwise they wouldn't need a special person to do it.
I hauled one mostly empty (just the blue juice) a number of miles in for a race once. Not a big deal.
After a long day, I was slightly less careful on the way out, and it was more full.
As you guessed, it WAS more full. Less full when I got back.

Non issue. Jam an inflatable beach ball in the hole, inflates and it plugs em up good. We've done it for Relic Run a time or two.
