More progress on the bed tonight. I got all the structure done, assembled for test fit, then disassbled and finish sanded.

Tomorrow (I guess really, later today), I'll wipe it down then do the first coat of stain. Hopefully I'll have the final coat on in the evening so it's ready to go in her room on Sat evening.

This is the very unglamorous work of interiors.
We're doing an assisted living center and we campaigned hard for a movie theater for the residents. Their budget will not allow for 15 theatre chairs when commercial ones are $350-400 each.
So we went used. I'll NEVER do this again. I'll just tell them if it's not in the budget for new... Then they CAN'T have them. These looked clean inside the previous theater and had been cleaned regularly.
The shear amount of bubble gum, candy sticky, popcorn and human slime was nauseating.

When this didn't work.

I had to resort to more drastic measures.
Wet.
Soak with "Oil Eater" commercial degreaser.
Shrub with drill brush.
Pressure wash on a low setting.
Repaint the chipped bases.

The only reason I can get away with this is that the material is extremely durable. The trade name is krypton and they use it in busses and subway cars and this actual how they clean it in those applications.



I guess this is the price I pay to earn the contract on a hundred thousand of square foot building and make sure our employees get a paycheck.

Every once in a while I have to show my wife that she married a superior man.
She bought a storage shelf for under the sink, but the plumbing gets in the way. I cut and welded the corner to opposite direction.

I built out their new theater room.
And yes after all that work on the used seats I got them to spring for new ones... Thank heavens!

SDS hammer drill kicks butt. WAY better than a normal drill with a hammer drill setting.
I had to do maybe 70ish 4.5"x 3/8" holes in concrete.

I had to do really generous spacing for ADA compliance with walkers and wheelchairs.
I'm really excited to see how the residents enjoy it!

You’re not kidding about using a proper hammer drill! You can do things even easier in the future by Using Hilti EZ bolts instead of wedge anchors.
