What made you realize you weren't young anymore?

Alright old guys, from another old guy, I'm gonna share something that may help all your eyes out. I had PRK done to my eyes around 2016 (I think, give or take a year) and two years ago I started to notice it degrading. Harder to read signs down the road... focusing close to far took a while along with a lot of blinking, etc... then, as I do, I go down rabbit holes and found that a good quality vitamin E should help improve and retain vision. Basically, I guess our eyeballs lose that flexibility and it's an even bigger problem with all the seed oil shit in everything now.

It took a few months of doing vitamin E every day (I'll look up the amount) and now I don't have those issues nearly as bad. It's been just over a year of really hitting the E hard. If I miss a day or two I notice... so I stay on it for the most part.

Hopefully it will help some of you other old farts.
Also interested. I had lasik done in 2017 and still good but if I can stave off issues would love to.

Me? Constant aches and pains that disrupt my sleep, ability to work and play.
Last night my son and I went up to see if we could find an elk for his limited entry permit. Last Saturday we had so many other people show up that the big boys left the area. Last night we were the only ones in the area and he got one, a 5x6 that wasn't as big as the one he saw Saturday but still a decent one. Lucky for me we got my son in law and my strongest grandson to come help haul it out. I realized once I picked up the pack that I am no longer a spring chicken. The pack was so heavy that it kept tipping me over. I was glad it was all downhill and not 5 miles away from the truck.

I've felt old on a few occasions lately, especially since a pretty bad car wreck this past June I was in. Today it really sank in though, I failed a hearing test Saturday and again today. I've noticed it more over the past few months since the accident, especially in the side that the airbag smacked. Guess I should consult an audiologist about hearing aides and add that to my list of injuries with the my attorney. 😳

That sucks....My wife made me go to an audiologist because she said my hearing was going bad. I went, got tested and was told that I had the hearing of a 20 year old. He said that what I did have was tone deafness. What ever tone my wife speaks in, I am hearing impaired at that tone. When I got home she wanted to know what I found out. When I told her what I found out, she was pissed at me. I told her to take it up with the audiologist because I wasn't the one that diagnosed it.

So, the moral of this story is, when your wife is complaining to you and asking why you are not listening or can't hear her, know that it is tone deafness. Just don't make the mistake I did and tell her it is the tone that she speaks in. This is a true story by the way. None of the normal embellishments on my end.

So many of the things listed.
-Having to wear glasses to drive at night or read numbers on a motorcycle jet.
-Holding sockets at arm's length to see what damned size they are.
-Not having the drive to constantly be accomplishing things like fixing cars, house projects.
-questioning if it's worth putting gear on to ride a dirt bike.
-Wife walking past in panties without getting her as slapped.
-Kids having kids.
-Talking to Hickeys kid and realizing he is as old a my kid when in my mind I'm still their age.
-Seeing a 2006 for sale and thinking it's not very old.
-I was a little pissed about paying the same amount for a used mountain bike as a new dirt bike I purchased, then I realized that dirt bike was a 2004 and that was 20 years ago.

I'm in pretty good shape physically and my body doesn't hurt much so I'm super fortunate in that regard.

One pivotal moment for me was last year. My dad shot an elk after we hadn't hunted for about a decade. While we were retrieving the animal I looked at my dad and my youngest son. I had this odd moment where I saw my dad as my grandfather, my son as me and I was my dad. I have so many memories of being with those two men when I was my son's age, it just didn't seem right that time had jumped so far ahead, it was like the twilight zone.

Getting old has it's downsides, but it beats the alternative.
Pretty much all of this. On top of that, my injuries from racing motorcycles in my 40's make me feel like I am in my 70's some mornings. It also doesn't help when your orthopedic tells you that doing surgery to fix those lingering injuries will not be any better than dealing with them until it is time for a joint replacement. With that said, I see a shoulder and knee in my 10 year healthcare plan.

Your wife clearly needs speech therapy. She can probably get a discount course at any CAL-Ranch, Sportsman’s Warehouse, or Scheels.

I've had quite a few orthopedic surgeries in my life. My doctors have always said "yes we can fix that". Within the last year I developed a pain in my hand. The doctor's response was "we can't fix that. You'll just have to live with it." That is a sign of getting old when your body is beyond being rebuilt.

Reading glasses.
What is now "normal" joint pain; damn shoulder.
Getting up in the middle of the night to take a leak.
Realizing my parents are older than their parents when they died. :(
Needing an antacid after nearly every meal.
Knowing that some of the shirts in my closet are older than my kids and some coworkers. Consolation - they still fit.
